Sport Day 1

Sport Fitness
Ok I am going to start keeping a journal of my food intake for the next like 6 weeks (weekly posting in my log on here). My concern was I've heard some crazy things about sodium and the intake level on it. I have read that it is bad for blood pressure, which I don't need help with my anger issues every once in a while and such. Ontop of that I fear over consumption of it like most American do daily. One person I talked to said something like 300mg a day, and I was like "holy ****." Well looking on my South Beach Diet package for lunch today it has like double that(This is my biggest meal of the day really and I am going to get away from them and start making my own once I get established enough to). Anyways, I read that a standard American goal would be 2300-2400mg/day. The UK runs for 1500-1600mg/day and that is what is recommended for people with blood pressure as well. Should I shoot for the standard American or UK? Or different?

An intake around 3g is fine granted you don't have BP or other related health issues. Just be sure to drink around a gallon of water a day which will encourage the excess sodium to be excreted from the body.

Right now I am drinking minimum 64oz water daily. Im trying to get my system up to 3 liters which would put me near 100ounces a day. About 30 short of a gallon but I don't think that is bad for a guy that used to never drink water like 1-2 years ago and drank it RARELY in the past 1-2 years. :) When you say 3g, you mean 3000mg I assume, correct? (Sorry, I sucked bad at conversion in schools like this but I believe that should be correct.)

the goal is really 1gallon of fluid a day...so if you also had two protein shakes, that's at least another 16 ounces you can count.

even tea and coffee count...sure they contain some caffine, but not enough to completely negate the water in those drinks.

Yeah, I drink 8-16 oz of skim milk daily as well, what does that do? 128 ounces(1 gallon) is a LOT for me to consume. Not that I can't, it'll be my goal, but damn that's a lot.
