Dark Circles Under Eyes?

Hey all,

I noticed that I have dark circles around my eyes (mostly underneath) and have heard that it might have a lot to do with my diet, that I'm not getting enough vitamins and all. I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about this? I know that sometimes it'll happen if you don't get enough sleep, but that's not the problem. So I'm just curious if it would be beneficial to maybe start taking a multi-vitamin (Used to take the MegaMan from GNC which I liked) and also start eating more fruits and vegetables. Any suggestions?

Well I would take the multi-vits anyways, but otherwise nutrition is only one possible cause for dark circles under the eyes.
The real question is what kind of "dark circles" they are. For example, it could be as simple as a tan since the skull is shaped so that area would be hit by the sun first. Does it feel sore or bruised when you touch it? Also are there are there any blotchy areas that look like popped blood vessels? Also does the rest of your face look any paler (sign of sleep deprivation even though you think it's not caused by that.)

If your parents have dark circles under their eyes, it might be hereditary and just showing because your getting older.

Popped blood vessels can be from medication which makes your eyes dialate.

Could also be because of allergies.

You can probably narrow it down if you try clicking the possibilities on this site:

Get some sleep. When dark circles appear under my eyes it is usually when I am not getting my proper sleep. As soon as I get my rest, they will start to fade and go away. This is the only tim I have ever gotten them.

It doesn't look as though they are from popped blood vessels or anything. And I know it's not from a tan. It doesn't hurt when I touch them or anything like that either. I have naturally fair skin so unless I stay out in the sun a LOT, I'm usually pretty "pasty" colored, although I do get a nice tan. But I work in an office environment and I don't get out into the sun as much as I'd like to. As far as sleep goes, I always get at least 7 hours of sleep a night and I'm only 27 so it's not like I'm getting so old that I need at least 9 or more. LoL. I think I will start taking the multi-vitamin and trying to eat better and see what happens. (I have noticed that I'm also always tired, so I really do think it's a lack of vitamins and minerals, mixed with a lack of excercise. I have been paying for gym membership but haven't been going, it's time to stop procrastinating).

i got the same problem, not sure what causes it, but ive had the dark cicrles under my eyes for years, looks like i wear that black **** that goth ppls wear :(

I actually notice that my dark circles are less prominent when i take vitamins. If i forget a day or two, it seems like the circles darken a bit.

Dark Circles

It may be a lack of nutrients in the body that is causing the darkness and fatigue. Also, it could be your liver, maybe go to your doctor and get your liver checked for High Enzyme levels (simple blood test).

Could be a number of things, but as mentioned, sleep and vitamins need to be in check before anything.
