Do you live near an inexpensive gym? That $49 would get you almost 5 months at my gym that has alot more options for you.

No I don't have a planetmuscle near me. But thanks!!! I live in Baltimore, Maryland...here the average rate for a membership is about $50 per month.

I bought one for 50 bucks at wallmart, called danskin now... it says 300 pounds is the max load i think we are talking about the same one
(adjustable black and grey?) I don't know if the max load is understated or factual though...

I bet that the max weight is understated. If someone 300 lbs was seriously injured because the weight was overstated, they would own Danskin.

Well, maybe not own, but they would have a very good case for a lawsuit and these days all business are very cognizant of those possibilities, So I wouls say the bench is good for at least 300lb and probably some more.

Thats what i want to believe RED, but the bench design is simple and looks cheaply constructed(costs 50 bucks)... The back rest has a pole that rests on metal tabs... The thing that scares me is that the bottom of this pole has a plastic/rubber piece on the bottom, and plastic isnt known to be a great weight bearing material...

You know, you may have better luck having some one make you one out of angle iron or steel pipe and it should not be too expensive.

When I was looking for a dumbell rack for my weights (10-50lbs in 5 lb increments) everything seemed outrageously expensive, then I found a guy in town who made me one with welded angle iron which held all my weights for $75. It's great!
