Dance Dance Revolution

Hey, everybody! I have a question - have any of y'all played this game before? It's pretty fun, if you don't mind looking goofy while doing it. DDR (or Dance Dance Revolution) is a game for the PS, PS2, and XBox where you are able to physically get up and dance to play games. I just purchased DDR Supernova, which has a workout mode, and it's a lot of fun. They have songs from David Bowie to Kelly Clarkson to the Buggles - and some others.

So, if you're just looking to have an easy and fun time, and have the money for it, I suggest you pick it up. It's a fun way to exercise (but you should do other exercises as well) and to play with your friends as well.

But make no mistake; playing DDR will never make you an expert dancer. :p :D

I play DDR for a supplementary workout as well, and I know I've heard from a couple of people here who do as well. It's just been this last week or so that I've been good enough at it to play the songs that really get my heart rate up :)

I used to work in a board game store, and one of our regular kids would come in every day after going to the arcade to play DDR, soon after the game was first becoming popular. He made it on the news for losing 50 lbs on DDR alone. I don't even want to think about how many quarters that is to play at an arcade...

If anybody is interested in picking one up, the version for the Playstation is running about $40 on ebay including two mats, and you can get a playstation system for $20-30 there as well.

If you dont want to buy it, you can download stepmania and just buy yourself a pad and a usb converter and play it on your computer.

That's what I do :D

XD Haha, that's so sketchy! I LOVE IT! XP A couple of my friends have StepMania, but they don't have a dance pad; they just use their fingers. They're wicked fast. D:

I love DDR! I also just bought Eyetoy Kinetic for PS2. It's by Nike. It is so much fun! It's cardio, aerobice, dance, kickboxing, yoga, Tai Chai, and so much more. You get a personal trainer who helps you. The eyetoy judges how well you do and adjusts the difficulty accordingly. I highly recommend this. I got it on Amazon.com for only $25, including the eyetoy camera.

Hi,

I've never played DDR, but video games have always helped me lose weight....especially RPG video games. I play them while doing step aerobics or marching in place. They allow time to pass so quickly... you don't think of anything else but the game til the timer goes off!:D

I've never thought of doing that! What a good idea!

Another video game technique - use the DDR pad as the controller for other video games. I've burnt a lot of energy guiding my character through world maps and tapping through conversations :)

Morning,

DDR is super for weight loss!

My kids love it; I cannot do it because I'm too uncoordinated. However, while they're DDRing to their heart's content, I do my Taebo/aerobics moves behind them and get in a mini-workout that way.

The kids have already lost the weight that had snuck up on them last winter, and they just adore the game. They'll even do Taebo with me afterwards!

iaf

Question: After playing DDR, do your feet ever hurt? I find that I have to actually crack mine so that they feel better. Is that a bad thing?
