cyclic dieting okay?

So, I know that yo-yo dieting is supposed to be bad. I was wondering if what I'm doing qualifies as that, or no?

I get hyper-interested in dieting for about 2 weeks or so...lose around 2 lbs a week eating right, exercising, etc. Then I kind of lose interest, but eat well enough that I maintain (don't let my weight go up by more than a lb or so). I sometimes binge a little during that time, but overall don't eat too badly. After 2 or 3 weeks, I get interested in losing weight again, and cycle through it like that again and again.

I know I'd probably lose weight faster if I kept with it, but I honestly just can't stay enthusiastic and interested in doing so constantly. Cycling like this lets me consistently lose 4-5 lbs per month, but I'm worried that it's kind of yo-yo diety.

Yo-yo is more about losing and gaining the same 15 lbs over and over again. Alternating between weight loss and maintenance isn't the same thing, so as long as the overall trend is downward you should be fine :)

Re:

Basically, you want to 100% deplete your stored glycogen stores before your refeed for 2 basic reasons. 1- to maximize fat loss in those days leading up to the refeed. 2- to maximize effectiveness of the refeed and ensure that none of the consumed carbs spill over into fat stores on said day.
