Weight-Loss Cutting Advice?

Weight-Loss
So I want to cut about 10lbs or so while maintaining as much muscle as possible. Am I on the right track as to simply cutting calories, primarily from carbs and do some low intensity cardio or HIIT?

Is there any other nutritional, workout, supplement tips or advice you have for me. I have never done a real cut before.

Thanks,

Ben

Why are you cutting? If you are cutting for a body building competition or a fight, most "cutting" is water weight. If you are cutting for fun, well ... there isn't much point. Cutting is usually for short term gains and then people put the weight back on because what they do during cutting isn't sustainable (or healthy).

Eating protein before and after workouts and doing HIIT is a great way to maintain the maximum amount of muscle gains.

Thanks for advice. I am just cutting for fun. I want to look good for the ladies you know? See if I can finally get that six pack. Also, if I want to become a personal trainer, I think to better I look the more marketable I will be.

I agree with allcdnboy above. Cutting is something bodybuilders and fighters do. It sounds to me like what your describing is what I have always called "leaning out", which is what I do when I want to shave a few pounds. And yes, when I do it I typically reduce some calories, primarily from carbs, and do HIIT. I also start walking alot. The HIIT combined with lots of low impact walking does the trick for me.

Cutting or "leaning out" is only a temporary thing ... otherwise it's just generally called losing weight :)
