Sport Cup of Tea?

Sport Fitness
hi Guys, i really love this forum you are all so helpful!

Just a question, i have found that having a hot cup of tea helps to cure my cravings for cookies etc, but i was wondering if a cup of tea (without sugar & skim milk) is very fattening? and what about coffee?

thanks!

Its only unhealthy when you make it unhealthy.

Green tea is the king of tea. Its an excellent anit-oxident which flushes out all impurities in your body. Also contains caffeine which will give you the kick of energy that caffeine from coffee will give you. The numbers of caffeine in green tea versus coffee are suppose to be really close, but any herbal of that sort will be healthier to drink. If you can drink it without sugar and milk.. go for it. Small moderations of both will not hurt you. Although careful on your choices of sugar. People drink it to lose weight, gain weight, people said it relaxes you after a good workout, and the more you drink of this.. the better it will be for you.

if your using semi-skimmed milk then thats fine.
Sugar is sugar, but its better than a cookie, so if you take sugar then go for it.

Tea also has cancer fighting properties, tho I cant be very technical about it.

3-5cups per day is good for you, it depends on how strong and the size of the cup.

tea or coffee, without sugar or creamer...is considered a zero calorie food. there's less than 1 calorie in a serving, so it just doesn't really count.

the only real thing to be aware of is the caffine. a few cups a day is fine though, even coffee.

I drink 1-2 cups of green/white tea a day and it's perfectly fine especially if it helps you with cravings.

Green tea contains less caffeine than coffee: there are approximately thirty to sixty mg. of caffeine in six - eight ounces of tea, compared to over one-hundred mg. in eight ounces of coffee.

White tea is excellent for you as well. Also herbal teas ROCK!

Adding a bit of milk or sugar is not an issue so long as your diet is otherwise healthy.

Brahma I agree with you on everything except:

The numbers of caffeine in green tea versus coffee are suppose to be really close

Caffeine amounts can vary depending on brewing time and other factors, but in general coffee has MUCH more caffeine than green tea. This is from a chart showing caffeine amounts in milligrams. This is just one chart of course, but I've found these amounts are pretty consistent no matter where you find the information.

Coffee (5 oz. cup) 80
Cola (12 oz. can) 45
Black Tea (one tea bag) 40
Oolong Tea (one tea bag) 30
Green Tea (one tea bag) 20
White Tea (one tea bag) 15
Decaf Tea (one tea bag) 2
Herbal Tea (one tea bag) 0

Great, thanks heaps guys will take all that into consideration!
