I’m in the process of losing weight and its going well; a few weeks ago I started adding crunches and pushups as a part of my morning routine. I read some articles that crunches are not a good exercise for weights lose, are crunches completely useless? Even if they don’t they don’t help lose weight do they have any benefit?

Crunches won't really help you to lose weight, and they are not normally something that I recommend based on the potential risk of lower back injury (although full sit-ups are far worse). A combination of strength training for the whole body at least 3 days per week, cardio on most days of the week, and better nutritional choices will help you lose weight.
