Sport Critique

Any one care to critique or comment on my diet?

I'm a 20 yo F, ~119lbs, 5'3. I work out 6 days a week. 2 days of heavy lifting, 2 days of straight cardio, 2 days of circuit/mix of weights and cardio.

B:
Shakeology (meal replacement shake, lots of fruits and veggies in it, about 140 cals, 15g protein, 19g carbs, <.5g fat) mixed with 6oz cranberry juice and 6oz pineapple juice
1/2 cup of steel cut oats, plain

S:
Pure protein bar (would have had more but I was one the floor doing my clinicals and we're not allowed to eat, so I had to sneak this)

L:
large salad with cucumber, tomato, beans, and 1 boneless skinless grilled chicken breast and small white bean soup

S:
apple and 100 cals of almonds

D:
1/2 c brown rice, 1-2 cups steamed veggies, 1 boneless skinless grilled chicken breast

All I drink is water.

I should also add that I'm not trying to loose any weight.. just lower my BF% a bit. I'm assuming it's anywhere from 15-20%, I'd like to get it down a little lower.

If you are tryinjg to loose body fat I wuold suggest avoiding starchy carbs, like oats and rice. Concentrate your diet around protien sources and fruit and vegetables.

I also would suggest trying to eat real food, not shakes and bars or any other kind of processed food, whenever possible.

So, your lunch and afternoon snack are perfect. Maybe try a couple of eggs or yogurt or cottage cheese and fruit for breakfast?

I wouldn't do the shakeology thing, but I'm sure you're gonna stick with that, since I know you :). So I'm gonna say drop the juice you're mixing it with and eat real fruit. The next comment was going to be add fruit, but if you do the switch it would be alright. The protein bar is probably bad but considering the situation, if it really is your only option, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Any idea what your daily intake is?

PS: Losing fat without weight is NOT easy and it's going to be a long process

Dswithers, thanks for the input! I do have hard boiled eggs on most days, actually! forgot about that. I love putting them in my salads

Mike, thanks! I do usually mix strawberries, blueberries, or banana in with the shake. I have 1-2 apples a day and a banana on most days.. aside from the shake. And the shakeology I love, it keeps me full for 3-4 hours, nothing else does lol. I stopped tracking my cals, just because I 1) don't have time and 2) don't need the stress, I'm trying to do more of a 'intuitive eating' type thing.. but I'm assuming 1600-1700 cals.

Yeah, unfortunately the protein bar is really needing in those situations.

Tony, LIES!

Well I would drop the juice. That would be my first thought. Keep the shakeology if it works for you. I would also eat something besides a boneless skinless chicken breast for lunch and dinner. Get some fun in your life! lol - steak, fish, eggs, whatever.

As I noticed, fat loss without weight loss is a long, slow, annoying process because obviously to accomplish that, you're going to have to concurrently gain muscle. That's very difficult, and since you aren't tracking calories, it's even harder.

I'm not big on steak.. I do eat lots of fish :) this was just one day, I can't eat all that in one day, I'm not a freak!! haha

I know exactly what you mean..if I drop pounds that's fine. I guess I shouldn't have expected it from here, but when I post my diet other places I always get the 'well WHY are you trying to loose weight, you don't need to' blah blah blah lecture. So as a disclaimer I wanted to note that i'm not intentionally trying to drop pounds, but if that's what happens while I'm trying to find a place where I'm happy with my body, that's fine.
I hope that makes sense

Gotcha, good call. You still doing that Urbanathon?
