creatine..

i take 5 grams after every workout. im not seeing any increase in size or strenth..ive been on it for about 2 months now. could i be a non responder?

How much does it say you can take?
I take it before and after so its in your body while you train.

1, do you keep a training log of everything you lift?
2, how long have you weight trained before you started on it?
3, could it be your workout?
4, are you drinking 8-12 pints of water a day?
5, are you getting enough protien and carbs?
6, do you take a glucose drink in to the gym?
7, are you getting enough sleep?
8, is it creatine monohydrate?
If its none of these things then up the dose or try another brand.

Take your cratine AFTER your workout. NOT BEFORE! It is better absorbed and assmiliated after a HARD, INTENSE workout. Best delievery is with a product with the sugar sucrose in it. I have found Gatorade or Powerade to be the best, better than grape fruit. Just take straight up powdered creatine, forget all the otehr crap that's out on the market.

StandAPART - Your saying to take creatine after, because your body has to have a need for creatine before it will absorb it. However If you take it before your work out, as in while your getting changed, and through your warm up, the creatine is in your body ready to be used as soon as it is needed.

Say you start off with a flat bench press. If you got creatine in your belly it will take effect as soon as you have finished your 1st set. Rather than having to wait an hour or so till you have finished your workout.

You need creatine to heal your muscles, so take it before and after your workout so the muscle you worked 1st doesnt have to wait.

manoflent,
You are have seriously old-age info. Your body makes creatine 24 hours a day! YOu are simply putting more in your body at the "best time". Putting more is not going to give you bigger bench press...Creatine doesn't heal your muscles...it simply increases ATP production in the mitochondria of the cell.
Dude, serioulsy puty down the FLEX magazine and read "real" research. I was taking creatine back in 1992 when EAS was the first company to market it.

Then how come you dont have much muscle, but your still a bit over weight. Not criticising, just looked at the vid on the website.
They are some terrible exersises, even for beginers!

Answer me these two questions,
1, why do you take creatine?
2, why not take it moments before, or even during your workout as well as after to ensure that you have a surplus of creatine in your sytem, rather than work up a deficit and take it an hour later.

I was making it easy for ppl to understand as many believe that creatine instantly boosts performance, when it acctually effects the recovery time and growth of the muscle during the healing process.

actually taking creatine before lifting does nothing for that particular workout. your body has to process it first and absorb it and this does take time.

also its been shown that creatine uptake is greater in an exercised muscle vs a non-exercised muscle.

but if you're gonna take, just take it. ;)

Abear, I do understand why your supposed to take it after. But when I say "before" I'm talking about seconds before your workout, not 45mins like your protien.

ABEAR SAID -
"your body has to process it first and absorb it and this does take time."

Thats exactly my point, If you take it moments before your body can process it so you can absord it as soon as it is required by your muscles. This way it doesnt have to wait till the end of your work out.

Obv. The best time to take it is after, But Take some before as well for slightly better results.

Plus - If it really did no good before, then pro bodybuilders and power lifters wouldnt take it before and after.

The best coaches in the world do not look like athletes. Most successful coaches were mediocre players and had to really pay attention to what was going on. I only say this to bring this point-a coach does not have to look like an athlete or perform like an athlete to train a successful athlete. Criticizing someone because they are not carrying vast amounts of muscle is...nm...I suppose elite level light weight class Oly lifters don't know their stuff because they are not heavily muscled.

I don't know of a single educated power lifter that takes creatine before their workouts. It doesn't matter if you take it before hand, the body has to be depleted in part or full of it's ATP-PCr storage or it does no good.
