Creatine, Whey/Soy Protein and Weight Gainer

Hi there guys,

I am new to weight training and i just started hitting the gym 3 weeks ago. I am 180cms tall and i weigh 65kg. As you can see, I am slightly underweight and i have been consuming weight gainer for the past 2 weeks. The weight gainer has increase my weight to 66kg and i will continue until i hit 75kg.

I intend to purchase creatine and whey/soy protein (i am not sure which is better, whey or soy?) as they are for muscle building. However, i am not sure how to mix these 3 supplements together. Or are these 3 supplements able to go together in the first place. i'm not sure if it is necessary taking these.

I would appreciate any help provided. Thanks

Slowfast =)

I would buy a whey protein, its usually the cheapest. Optimum Nutrition is a good brand. These supplements can be combined, but you should try working out for awhile before jumping on the supplement band wagon. Read the sticky "Smart Supplementation."

Protein shakes arent for muscle building, they are to supplement your current diet and protein intake. Protein does of course help with muscle building.

Also, for creatine I just stir it in water and gulp it down, but I've read that something with insulin is better for it to get soaked in by the muscles.

What liquid should I use to mix with creatine?

You don't mix creatine with insulin. you can take creatine with sugary carbs (like in your weight gainer) to induce an insulin spike in your body, which can help with creatine absorption levels.

Get you some dextrose. You can get 2lbs for $2 on bulk nutrition or if you have a local store that sells brewery supplies.

ok i browsed through the net and it seems like the general consensus is to take 40grams of dextrose for 5g of creatine. i don't know... seems like a lot of sugar to be swallowed... seems like i might want to stick with water..

edit: or just stick with creatine and water now and wait until i get my whey protein

have you ever had a can of soda? a standard can contains about 40g of sugar...except its about the least healthy kind of sugar possible.

the body WANTS to replenish stored energy post workout...and dextrose/maltodextrin is ideal for this.

should i mix in whey protein, creatine and dextrose into one shake?

how much should whey protein cost per pound?
is bulk nutrition the best/cheapest place to get all this?

That's what I do. ON Whey runs pretty cheap, dextrose is really cheap, and creatine is pretty darn cheap as well. I PM'ed you some links to some stuff - don't wanna get in trouble or anything.

thanks!!

also, i request a general consensus of which flavor of whey protein is "best"

vanilla, chocolate or strawberry?

for me I love vanilla ice cream over the other two flavors, so I'm wondering whether this will correlate to the flavoring of the whey protein? but i heard the chocolate flavor will not cause gagging after 5lbs of the protein!

Post-workout. Sugars are great for post-workout, which is why dextrose is a good option - of course along with your whey protein and if you are taking creatine, then throw it in there as well.
