Crash Diet Advice

Hey. First of all let me just say that yes, I do know that crash diets are bad for you and it's likely that most people put on weight afterwards etc. etc., but I still want advice.

I'm going on vacation in two weeks from today (14 days) and I want to lose about 9kg, which is not going to happen. However, I want to lose as many kilos as possible just so I can feel really good about myself if I go out in a bikini etc. Normally, I wouldn't be this panicked about my weight but I have gained 9/10kg since mid-March because I've been suffering from depression, which increases my appetite. The weight gain has made me very self conscious.

So far, my plan is to do 50 minutes of cardio a day while eating 800-1000 calories. I once read somewhere that eating 800 calories a day can let you lose 2lbs in a week? I know it's stupid and it's too little but it's only for 14 days, after which I'll return to losing weight slowly (I have all summer where no one will see me, I'm in no hurry after this!).

Can anyone tell me approximately how much weight I could potentially lose within the next 14 days? I've been doing this for about 2 days now.

My stats:
Age: 15
Weight: 60ish kg
Goal: 49-50 kg
Vegetarian

Thanks,

Megan

I know it's stupid

Read that. Read it again. And then read it again. Read it until you get it.

If you want to permanently damage your metabolism and cause yourself to gain more weight back, then by all means, crash diet.

In the meanwhile, don't really expect anyone on this site who cares about proper health and fitness to tell you that what you're doing is ok or give you advice on how to be unhealthy, because we won't. And i don't mean that harshly or meanly or to be rude.

Be healthy. Be healthy NOW. Don't set yourself up at your age for the back and forth of weight loss. Please trust me on this. I'm nearly 3x your age and I played this same game with myself for 30+ years and it resulted in me being 100+ lbs overweight by the time I was 35.

It's taken me nearly 2 years to lose 80 lbs and I bitterly regret every day I played the stupid games with myself. I'm only glad that I got smart when I did.

Keep in mind, most of the weight people lose from crash diets is just water weight! If you don't care that it's water weight, and that it could majority damage your metabolism (making the rest of your weight loss journey a lot harder than it has to be), then proceed with caution. Let your doctor know what you plan on doing, so that he can help in any and all ways possible, or find a trainer that can keep an eye on you.

With that said, nobody here's going to be able to predict, weight-wise, what'll happen to you in the next two weeks. You could lose up to 4-5kg in water weight alone--but since you're a vegetarian already, I don't think this is going to happen. No matter how hard you work out or how little you eat, you're just not going to lose that much fat in only twelve days, so please don't get your hopes up too high!

Good luck, and please be careful. :)

1000 calories is extremely dangerous for a 30 year old nevermind a 15 year old even 1500 is cutting it thin! your body will spend 3 days in starvation mode then your metabolism will slow! also i crash dieted before and i can tell you binging is likely which will result in some bad bloating and stomach cramps!

as a fellow veggie here's my advice:

-rocket salad with balsamic vinegar and parmesan is filling and can replace bread etc as a side
-mix up some low fat cottage cheese berries and flaxseed for breakfast full of protein and fibre
-nuts are full of omega 3 (great for depression),monosaturated fats (helps stomach bloating) and protein
-light cranberry juice is a god send
-miso soup with tofu is a great healthy snack less than 100 calories

eat healthily and you'll look fantastic handbag.com have a great 10 day bikini diet i tried once (replace meat with quorn etc) everyone i met remarked on well i looked after!

if it's a temporary fix you need get a body wrap done same results and a LOT more relaxing

also remember to smile! i'd kill for a holiday! :cheers2:

yea, as she's reminded us earlier today, she's 15, knows everything and doesnt' care for sound advice.

I dont' think any of us are gonna help you hurt yourself hun, you'll have to find that advice elsewhere....

I really appreciate those who took time to give me advice, instead of being rude.

It's my body, if I fuck it up it's my problem. So, that being said, if you're not going to help me then don't even bother posting just for the sake of being rude.

Megan.

well, no one here is gonna help you hurt yourself...like i said, if thats what your looking for, you'll have to go elsewhere.

The people who are telling you what you don't want to hear ARE helping you. You just don't want to hear it.

This is so very true! Unfortunately, I think she already has her mind made up to be foolish and careless with her body.
So sad...these people DO care and every piece of advice you have been given is true, Megan. I wish you the best...
