I was doing so good today with my exercise and eating, and just went out to eat with some family and it was italian..had fettucini, breadsticks..feel like a fat blob of grossness! What are your tips on what to do after this is there anything to do to make it so you didnt really eat it? IE drinking a crap load of water, exercising a lot tonight? Or have I already just ruined this day?

What I do in this situation is just write the day off. Chances are it isn't as bad as you think it may be and if you are careful through the rest of the week, the net outcome won't be so bad.

Look at it like this - it didn't take one meal to make you how you are today and it won't take one meal to break all you have accomplished. It is a lifestyle change and in that lifestyle there are ups and downs. No one expects that you are to swear off 'bad' food forever, to succeed you are going to have to learn how to work it into you life and make dietary changes to accomodate it.

If it makes you feel better, take a walk to work off some of the bloat, but stop beating yourself up over it. We have all been there and know that one meal is not a deal-breaker :)

Just get back on schedule. What's done is done. See this as your 'free' meal of the week and just work on making better choices when you go out to eat. There's nothing to make this meal go away unfortunately, and if you've been doing 'so good' as you say, then you probably deserved a nice night out.

There is nothing wrong with going out and enjoying a family dinner. What is good to remember is when you are going to go out, take that into consideration when you are paying attention to you caloric intake. Also take your time and don't over eat. There is nothing wrong with having fettucini or breadsticks, just don't over do it, be conscious of how much you are eating and stop when you are full :D

take care,
Diane
