I got cramps in the past... and usually when I was really moving... breathing really hard... and yes as someone posted earlier it was when I was going too fast... but early in my training... if I slowed down I would have been walking... lol...
So my advice is to try to change your breathing... if you have a cramp and it is on 1 side then focus on changing your breathing so that you are exhaling opposite of whatever you were doing... if you were exhaling on the plant of the left leg change it... I also try to slow down just a bit and breath deeply in through the nose and out through the mouth...
situps... leg lifts... etc... strengthen the core and you will get fewer stiches... at least that is what I found...
on the idea of running through them... ??? I don't know but I always have.... but I don't see anything wrong with slowing to a walk and breathing deep until the cramp goes away...
Dehydration can cause stiches too... but usually you have to be running for a long time for that to happen...
