Sport Couple of questions

Sport Fitness
Im new to the forum and im not sure where this would fit so im putting this in here but i have a few questions....

im 5'11'' and weigh in at 140-145 (ive been a real thin guy since i can remember) im 21 and ive just got a new job so for 2 months now ive been working at this job where all i do is lift lumber ranging from 60-170 pounds all day (by myself).....thing is im figuring working here is bascily like a extreme work out during the week so i could use this to put on a little muscle mass and put on some weight its already made me really cut and just because i know my body needs the protein from over stressing my muscles i started drinkin a whey protein drink (4 times a day which is 80grams of protein in itself) 2 weeks ago and i know it takes 6 weeks to see any kind of results but im wondering what else i should be doing to put muscle and weight on....i know its probably harder to figure since im not in any kind of work out regiment and im not doing any kind of program so i have no idea about my caloric intake or anything if that even matters but any help would be appreciated.....

I don't know where you got the 6 weeks number, but most people can see results quicker than that.

Protein shakes are a good start, however, the main focus to put on any weight is regular food - not protein shakes. I would aim to get between 200-250 grams of protein. Equally important is eating good carbs, good fats, having a balanced diet, and eating consistently throughout the day.

Try getting the bulk of your diet from regular food first, try to get some form of protein with every meal and snack (now that youll hopefully be eating more often), and if you can't get enough protein in your regular diet, then throw in a protein shake.

i thought that was the usual time frame to see results ? (maybe i got it from bowflex commercials i dunno haha)

being at work all day makes it real hard to eat consistently and the food i have available seeing as im not one of the well off people or even close to it its hard to keep enough food to eat like a body builder which is probably a big problem

see im tryin to get some muscle mass since im workin like a horse with all this lifting which would be the source of my weight gain.... im not tryin to hit 200lbs but 160- or the most 170 wouldnt be so bad...

i appreciate the help though

6 weeks is a rough time estimate where you should be able to visibly see changes in your body when looking into a mirror, provided you've been consistent in your diet and 'exercise' (in your case, daily work).

mreik is right of course...keep your calories up and protein around 150g a day (or above) and you should be able to pack on some muscle. might wanna hit a gym for a leg workout.. you don't want stick legs.
