Corporations

So, I have an assignment to do for my Human Geography class. Basically, we pick a corporation and talk about what products they make, show the timeline and all that jazz. Then we talk about their marketing techniques and who their target audience is. We also have to discuss whether they use stealth marketing or not.

Anyway, there are a lot of corporations out there and I want to choose an interesting one. It can be good or bad, whatever. I just thought some of you may know of some that I don't.

How about writing about fashon designers.
They sell the product at full price, we put the T-shirt on with the brand name all over it.

So the company is not just making money on the t-shirt but getting free advertising as well.

Did you know...
Nike paid a student designer $20 back in the 70's for the rights to use the 'nike tick' logo.
I bet he is gutted!

Wow, that Nike thing is crazy. I sure would be angry if I were that person.

I was looking around and I found this page that talks about the 14 worst corporations. I highly suggest everyone reads it and don't use the products they produce and spread the word!

About the report.

I gotta stay nutral but here are a few comments that will get you thinking. Non of these are my opinion, but they are phrases you will come up against if you discuss this with anyone.

- So is this the company's fault, or the UN's fault for not stopping it?

- You cant take that website 100% seriously. There are many stories like this and we cant prove them.

- If it stops, the price will rise, and so everyone will raise there prices.

- If all the compainies were stopped, the ppl who are treated unfairly would be out of a job with no chance of earning money.

Again these are not my opinions, but this is what you will hear.

I find it quite funny how that site lays into WallMart, how they shut down small shops etc.

You'll find that if a WallMart (or ASDA to us Brits) go into a town, they will employ more people than who lose their jobs due to the arrival of the supermarket.

Chris - good point.

The population of the UK is growing so fast that small family run shops cant keep up and the only way to supply the population is with big shops like this.
Its not ideal, but its somthing we have to put up with living in a country like the UK. People dont have time to go to 10 different shops.

If we can park the car, get a trolly and fill it up with everything we need, then whats the point in going round all the small shops?

still ... do u want to be the shop that has to close?

Ooo! deffinatly not. Its a really tricky subject which I have many mixed feelings about.
I do my best to use small buisnesses where I can.

I get my meat from a butcher, eggs from a local farm, I use a small family run post office etc...
But for many people its not worth the extra hastle.

It would be nice if we could go back to 'ye ol days' but I dont think its possible. Small shops will one day fade out altogether, and it will be a sad day.

, horrible, I do not support Wal-Mart at all.
