I'm not sure if there is another thread on here just like this one, so my apologies if that's so. But I saw this on someone's food blog and I wanted to share. I've had one friend serve to two tours in Iraq, and I have a lots of friends with family or friends in the Middle East as well. I don't want to turn this into a political bashing... but I will support, pray, and root for every last one of our soldiers until they're all home safe with their families and loved ones. So if you've got the time, the cash, and the extra materials laying around that you know you don't need (because this is a weight loss forum after all) think about sending out a package and a little note.

Here's a site with some how-tos:

And you can email this woman (Susan) directly for help... bakingGALS at gmail dot com

Oh... I almost forgot not just the boys but the GALS too!!!!!!

As a caveat, I know over on , they specifically say "Note: Due to concerns for the health and safety of the Soldiers, and as much as we don't want to say this, please do not send home-cooked anything to Soldiers other then to your relatives or people who know you. Factory packaged only. Sorry. The Soldiers are told to throw away anything that is not in a factory package."

They've got tons of ideas, plus contact info for volunteer recipients in various units, so if you don't know anyone personally, you can still send stuff. Those volunteers pass stuff out to their entire unit (and sometimes to other units in the area).
