Sport Consumption Question

Sport Fitness
Okay, I'm 139 lbs, 5'10, 16 and I've been eating 2500 calories a day for my bulking program, however, after reading the new rules of lifting book and recalculating I should be eating:

either

139 x 20 = 2780 (for active since I workout 5 days a week, 3 days lifting 3 sessions of HIIT) + 700 (about 5 calories per pound) = 3480

or

139 x 11 = 1529 (maintenance) + (.5*1529, for activity) = 2294 + 700 = 2994

Any recommendations on which calorie intake I should be following? I can figure out the protein/carb/fats on my own, I just want some ideas as to what everyone thinks about the two choices. Is one too much and will lead to too much fat gain or one too little and won't promote maximum muscle growth?

I'd say 3,000 is a more realistic starting point. I'm 5'9" and was cutting on 2200cals a day, and you're a lot younger than me, with a clearly faster metabolism.

If you're not gaining weight steadily, like a pound a week on a clean & calculated bulk, you're just not eating enough.

Ya start with the lower number and see what happens. I would even go for about 2lbs per month. At least then you know its muscle and not fat.
