Confusion

I'm pretty confused right now, I've been browsing the internet looking for a diet and work-out plan that suites me. I've been eating differently and working out alot, and I've only lost 11 pounds in the past 5-6 weeks. I hear people talking about low-cal diets and so on, but ah! I'm still a little confused, confused to the point possibly that I don't even know what specifically to ask help for. Maybe if I give you my routine somebody can give me some pointers.

Well first off I'm 21 and weigh 239 pounds. I'm a night student and I'm usually busy at school and doing school work all night and into the morning (so I do my work and workout stuff at night and sleep into the early afternoon). I eat atleast 3 times a day (usually salads or sandwhiches). I goto the gym atleast 5 times a week and job atleast 3 miles. I've got bad wrist problems from previous surgerys and I'm not supposed to lift weights so I'm stuck with cardio. Ah anyways, any kind of advice would be helpful. Thanks a bunch.

11lb in 5-6 weeks is pretty good going, id say you were on the right track entirely. Good for you going and doing the exercise.
As for the calories thing its explained in many sticky threads all over the forum, and even on my sig. But the basics are, you use about 2500-3000 a day just staying alive, if you eat 500 calories less a week than you use, you will loose 1lb a week. if you ate 1000 less than you would loose 2lb a week. The thing is the smaller you are the less calories you use staying alive (ie your heart, lungs, etc all use em being alive) So exercise burns a few more calories on top of the 2500-3000, this is how we can make the gap larger.

Anyway, check out the first link in my sig for a better explaination or some of the sticky threads under Newcomers i think.

(sorry if this sounds garbled, its late at night here and im half asleep :O )

Good job on the lbs. Don't worry too much about understanding the different diet plans. There's too many of them anyway.

The major factor in losing weight is SELF-CONTROL. With this, you can go on pretty much any diet and it will work.
