Confused on what to do, and how far i'd get

Hey there, i'm a 16 year old male around 240-250 pounds. I've been cutting back and exercising recently, and making some progress, but not as fast as i would like. I've been doing p90x work outs, and pulling my calories back to around 1500 a day, which im now learning is too low. I haven't stuck to the diet in p90x since it would be really time consuming and i just don't have the resources. I've probably lost around 10 pounds since i started, which i'm fine with since i've gained a moderate amount in muscle mass.

But I really want to get a steady diet going which would accelerate weight loss. When i start it in a couple days here, based on what i understand so far, i'm going to splitting up portions to around 5 smaller meals a day. So it would probably end up looking like:

breakfast: consuming largest portion of calories here
a snack:
lunch
second snack
dinner

According to the bmr calculations on this website mine is about 2500. Then i'm going to be doing the p90x cardio workout in the morning(about 40 mins) and the assorted strength building workouts in the evenings(around an hour). If i put this in the moderate activity level, different resources say i would need around 4000 calories daily, which seems really high.

So basically, is that 4000 accurate, and how many calories should i be doing a day for a hastened weight loss. I was thinking of doing around 2000 with a lot of protein and fiber. Would that be enough not to slow down metabolism. Also, i've heard cutting out carbs can help accelerate fat burn. Is this true, or should i not worry about this because of doing strength building exercises daily?

Any suggestion on what amounts of different types of nutrients i should be eating would also be appreciated.

Where in god's name do you get 4000 calories from?

Did you read the sticky posts in the various forums? Start with the one titled "How Many Calories Should I Eat" and then go from there.

Well thanks for the quick reply, and i'm not sure what i put in wrong that originally gave me 4000, but using the numbers in that sticky says i need around 3700 with an activity multiplier of 1.55, and a bmr of 2400. I've tried some other resources on various sites and gotten around 3400 elsewere, which i guess is a bit more reasonable. I'll keep looking around, mainly im looking to find what is the lowest i could eat without effecting metabolism or health.

I think around 2000 calories would be a pretty good starting point, then monitor your weight loss and adjust it accordingly until you are losing about 1 percent of your current weight per week. That is a generally accepted safe rate of weight loss.
