Sport Confused about Kashi & Meal before morning Workout!

Sport Fitness
Hi Everyone, I am a newbie who's been poking around on the site for some time now. I have read in several posts that people often recommend the Kashi cereal. I am currently working out with a personal trainer three times a week with weights and doing HIIT cardio at home five times a week at least 30 minutes a day early morning. My goal is to lose at least 20lbs and reduce BF substantially; I am currently at 34.9%, 5'7 and 185 pounds. Two questions:

1. Am I reducing my chances of reaching my goals by doing cardio before my first meal in the morning? I generally get up at 5:30, do cardio and shower before 6:30 and I am out of the door by 7:30 a.m. I usually make a Isopure protein shake two scoops, with strawberries and skim milk along with a piece of fruit in the car (also drink two more of these during the day at work).

2. I am a little confused about Kashi cereal. When I compare it's nutritional facts to that of Cheerios, Kashi has more Fat, more sugar, more calories, slightly more carbs and more potassium.

It does however have more protein and less sodium...................is that a good trade? Or can I just eat the Cheerios.... taste better IMO :) . I think I am getting enough protein from the Isopure and regular meals.

Any thoughts?

Seems like the hardest thing for me to do is eating right, trying to even-out the six meals a day.

Thx

Meek

wat kind of kashi are you eating?! cheerios have like 10 sugar? kashi has more cals kuz it has more grains and nutrition in it. kashi has whole grains, way more fiber and way more protein. definently go for the kashi. the kashi i get is the crunchy fiber twigs with soy puffs. its a red box (you cant miss it). it has like 13 protein, 10 fiber, 1 fat, 140 cals per cup. good stuff. so again, GO FOR THE KASHI!!!

yea oatmeal and some protein in the monrning is prolly the best choice. if you think about mixing whey with oats, make sure you mix the whey and the milk first, THEN add the oats. lol...personal experience....ugh

Okay thanks for the input

The Kashi I have is the Go Lean one, the box is kinda redish brown. I looked up "fasted" cardio and that really helped. It appears as though doing the cardio right when I wake up is a good thing. Hate oaks, but through the search found some advise on things to add to make it taste better so I am going to try it. The Honey and Cinnimon might help!

Thanks everyone

You should only do HIIT 2x a week at most! And a good HIIT session should only last 20 minutes or less. If you can do more than that you are not doing HIIT. After a few High Intensity Intervals you should feel like puking and not be able to go on. You are probably just doing interval training if you can keep it up for 30 minutes, NOT HIIT.

MEEKONE, you have the multigrain clusters kashi. yea that box is brown to me XD. that one is good but a lil high in sugar(at least its naturally sweetened). i eat that too. theres a yellow kashi thats the same thing as what you have but it has almonds in it and omega500. thats realy good too i like it better ^^. but i think the bright red kashi 'crunchy fiber twigs with soy puffs' is really the best for you kuz it has less calories, higher protein, higher fiber, lower fat and less sugar. if you can find that, you should eat that kind. i get the red kashi at super walmart. regular walmarts dont seem to have it -_-. kashi is great for energy and whole grains. ^^ go kashi

and i dont feel like puking after 15 minutes of intense sprinting and pushup conditioning(of course including the rest intervals). i just feel really worn down and out of breath. o.0 whats with people and puking after intense exercise(i really wanna know why)???

The best Kashi cereal is the "From Good Friends" type...almost no sugar, and a ton of fiber.

as long as your morning fasted cardio is the slow, steady state cardio (like a brisk walk for no more than 45 mins with a few short jogs thrown in) you'll be ok.

HIT type cardio in a fasted state is a good way to screw up progress.

: O never heard of that kind of kashi il look it up ^^
