Sport Concerned About What To Eat

Sport Fitness
I want to get in shape. I'm 18 years old, 5'11 and weight anywhere between 150-160. I'll post pictures if needed but I just want to know what to eat here, I'll probably ask about training in another forum section.

My breakfast is usually two eggs, two cheese,, two sausage patties, two peices of toast, or biscuits and gravy, milk carton (at school). Biscuits are medium size, 1 biscuit split in half topped with gravy and sausage bits.

Lunch is school: Usually a breaded chicken sandwich w/ jalapeno slices, ketchup half cup of raw vegetables (brocolli, cauflower, and carrots), 1 milk carton and sometimes a salad (1 1/2 cup container) w/ cheese, onions, french dressing, and just a few jalapeno slices.

Dinner is worst: Easily 200 carbohydrates or more, over 1000cal is my guess. I eat 2-3 helpings of rice (containing meat sauces etc), pasta, basically big family coooked dinners.

I want to know what I can eat that will be healthy for me and provide enough calories throughout the day. The only meal that can't be changed much is my school lunch during weekdays but a salad bar is available and there is about 5 lunch choices (I've been making healthier lunch choices at school for lunch).

I'm starting to eat plain oatmeal (3/4 cup, no sugar, butter, etc added, just water then microwaved, 34carbs, 170cal) (quaker oats) for supper and it is really great at suppressing my hunger. Any suggestions? I thought about just eating at home instead of school and eating eggs and toast for breakfast or even oatmeal but if I ate oatmeal my eating routine might feel too bland for me since I've staretd to eat that for dinner.

I've also quit drinking soda and started to drink water, I bought a water filter that makes it much easier to drink water (I don't like tap water too much). I will eat unhealthy at burger king if I go out though. I will start to go to subway instead though If I have enough money. Sometimes if I'm not too hungry I just wait to eat until I get back home (about a half hour drive though, so not always).

I suspect I'm not eating enough calories (with my current diet, not previous diet) and my body is trying to hold onto my current fat.

I'm trying to be as thorough as possible, I'll even post my exercise because that does figuring into how much calories to eat and such.

I run about a half mile during weekends outside my house at a track, I'm trying to get back up to running 2 miles again. During weekdays I'll ride my bicycle about 2 1/2 miles back and forth to the gym so 5ish miles total (I bought a crappy bicycle so it would be a harder workout) if the weather is good enough then I do light weight training. (it is horrible and cold right now) If the weather isn't good I drive to the gym, run a half mile, do some light weights, then I run a quarter mile. At home, I'm currently doing ball exercises. The first one I do is the basic ball crunch, and the other one I do is (can't remember the name but) it involves putting your hands together and twisting your body (arms still rigged) left and right while maintaining balance. I'm basically gonig to do this exercise as soon as my stomach stops feeligns sore and when that is over, I'll try it every other day.

I've lost about 15 pounds after a short time, but I only have a short amount left to lose before I focus more intensly on toning my body, that's why I only do light weights and run/ bicycle for now.

at 5'11" and 150lbs you shouldn't have much fat to lose.

spend some time reading the site. and LV's grocery list (stickied post).

you need to eat MORE. you need more protein.

you need to exercise...lift weights in particular.

Thanks, I'll try to read around here a bit and figure some things out. I'll start to eat normal again/ more protein, once I get around my goal weight, 140-145 which is coming close. I'll just be continuing trying to lose a few more pounds, then after that I'll be heading over to the training forums and hopefully tack on some good muscle/ weight.

I just wanted to lose a few pounds because I think I look kinda fat skinny, I don't know if that's the right word to call it but people are probably familiar with what I mean.

Yep, I think most of us do understand the 'fat skinny' comment.

I only pointed you at the sticky posts because we do get this question a lot...daily even.

Dear god, I thank you so much for telling me to read around. I read some of the forums in weight training and discovered its bad to work out to your limit on weights every other day, ideally fora beginner its best to have a 3 day rest period.

Just wanted to thank you for the advice.
