Computer Programmers?

Any computer programmers here? Im personally a programmer, and besides sitting in front of a monitor coding, i love working out, going out with friends, going out with my girl, and doin all types of shiat. Just curius, any other programmers around that are into fitness? :p

Hey Oblivion,

Yes, I'm a programmer but am just getting the ball rolling with fitness. I've managed to get myself doing cardio 3 hours a week and my diet is pretty good (maybe not compared to everyone here though :) ) - now I just need to get weights off my "to do" list.

Technically, I am a programmer, but I got bored with software and started designing hardware and then I got tired of working for other people and started a consulting company and got to busy and hired a few people to help me and then we developed a product and now I spend most of my time managing and not programming or designing anything.

I also do some programming along with designing and building custom automation equipment. I am into fitness big time too. So the rumor is false, we are not all nerds. :D

I am an engineer but I did have to take a couple of programming classes.........I am so glad I am not a programmer. They were some of the most frustrating classes I ever had, not really hard but just frustating that my 500 line program won't compile because i am missing a ";"

Thank god for you guys.

Get it out of the way and don't believe them when they tell you that you need to be a good programmer to be an engineer. Don't get me wrong, some engineers do use programming a lot, its a tool, but most never use it. If you are an Electrical Engineering major, matlab programming would be much more useful than C or C++.

Yep, I worked as a programmer for over 10 years before moving into an IT consulting role. Keeping up a your physical fitness is very important otherwise like I have found out, it's very easy to let yourself go. :( Sitting in front of the computer for 10+ hours a day just isn't great. I always find that programming exercises your mind, but if you don't exercise the rest of your body then your mind won't be as sharp and eventually your work will suffer.

I did it as a hobby for 10 years, then fell out of it. I used to program in C for IBM compats (when they were called IBM compatibles) with QuickC, then went to Zortech C/C++, then MS C++.

Now, I just can't get used to programming in Windows. I'll take Unix and Linux any day.
