I have started today a diet that was given to me by a previous nutritionist long time ago. I am not going to lie, I never had the chance to start it, but people I know did it as they went to the same doctor and they lost a good amount of weight, like 9 kilos in 40 days!! :willy_nilly:

First off, I have to get rid of my pregnancy weight. I even gained weight after birth ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am like 14 kilos above my previous pre-pregnancy weight.!

The diet is a protein diet... and it goes like this:

LIST A
Cereal
Fast food
Breads
Crackers
Lentils
Potatoes
Cakes
Pasta
Peas
Noodles
Beans
Rice

Note: I can only have from the list, bread, and will let u know how much later on

LIST B
Not allowed to have anything from it

Carrots
Corn
Beans
Potatoes
Peas
Beets

List C
Milk and Milk equivalents: NOTHING

Milk Slim
Milk whole fat
Yougurt

Fruit list
I am not going to bother to type the whole list because I cannot have any fruit!!!!!!!

I can have:

Creamery, non diary: 5-6 teaspon coffemate fat free
Mayo fat free: 1 teaspoon
Candies sugar free: as much as I want
Sugar substitute: any
Non sweetened cocoa powder: Cadbury Light - 1 cup
Coffe: any
Diet drinks: any
Tonic water: any
Catchup: 1 teaspoon
Mustard: any
Pickles: any
Vinegar + Lemon: any
I can have up to 20 marshmallows fat free per day
1/2 sugar free of the small bar of chocolate per day
1 scoop of sugar free ice cream per day

So my daily meals are this and I can eat them throughout the day as I like:

+ 3-4 toasted toasts = 2 italian toasts
+ low fat cheese
+ 400g of red meat, or chicken, or fish = 3 hamburger meat = 3 steaks = 1 and half tuna in water
+ salad: as much as I want

WATER of course.

PS: This diet I believe is done for like 4 weeks and then I believe stuff should be introduced like fruit and stuff. In the mean time, I am doing this and will see how it goes for a month!!!

Please let me know what u think of my diet.

:cheers2:

Hi there

I am a little confused, you say it's a protein diet yet the inclusion of bread makes it definetly not a protein diet.

You could let me know what you're eating typically for breakfast, lunch and dinner then I could let you know what I think, if that would be of any help.

best wishes and good luck to you

shang

Thank u for replying! :waving:

The amount of bread I am having is minimal!! The doc never told me about havine eggs because I have a tendency to get high cholesterol!

Today I had:

breakfast:
1 toasted brown bread with light cheese + nescafe with splenda and 3 teaspoons of coffeemate (light creamery)

Lunch:
3 red meat steaks + huge plate of salad made of lettuce, green pepper, and cucumber

I will have for dinner:
another brown toasted toast with light cheese and coffee

I have had 3 marshmallows, and few sugar free candies, and a scoop of sugar free ice cream to help me with the hunger!!

Well, I certainly wouldn't eat that diet.

For one thing, I studiously avoid all artifical sweeteners. Too many studies about their side-effects and related health concerns.

You should really have a balance of protein, fats and carbohydrates in your diet. If you go on this high-protein diet and lose a bunch of weight, what happens when you go back onto a regular diet again?

I am really surprised that a nutritionist would recommend that a woman stop eating dairy.

I really don't think that eliminating fruit, root vegetables and legumes is a good idea. There are a lot of micronutrients in those foods that are important.

More important, I think, to eat healthy food in moderate portions and a good balance of macronutrients (protein/fat/carbs).
Drink lots of water - that helps curb hunger more than candy with artifical sweeteners will.

Get some daily exercise. Eating smaller portions of healthy food, and moving around, will go far in getting you back in shape.

For the most part, these drastic/gimmick diets don't work in the long run. better to make long-term, healthy changes in your eating habits and activity levels.

I hope this helps, and I hope it didn't come off too lecture-y. :)

Thanks for your reply!

You are so right in everything-you-have-said. I indeed think that excluding milk and fruits might not be a good idea.. but I am going with it. I understand where you come from with after.stopping.the.diet might gain weight. But I really need, at this frustrating point of my life, to lose weight FAST. I surely have a plan of maintenance once I reach my goal. In the meantime, I need this diet to move things faster specially since I have no time to work out because I work and come home to take care of my 5 months old son.

Why do you have to lose weight FAST?

Gradual, steady weight loss coming from permanent lifestyle change is the best way to keep the weight off permanently.

It is good that you have a plan in place for afterwards. That is important.

Coz nothing fits me! Seriously.. I am still in my pregnancy pants. how ridiculous do you think I look??? :banghead: :puke:

And on top of that.. we are going on a vacation this July! and with a 7 months old, I want to be healthy and strong!

I know how you feel. I am very overweight myself but in the last month, I have lost 20 lbs and 12 inches of body fat. I drink two protein shakes day and take certain vitamins and herbs. I am not hungry, I have more energy, and I am feeling so much better.

You just have to put your mind in gear of what you want and find something that works for you and it will come off. I wish you the best of luck and wish I could help.

am I reading you correct? are you saying the only thing you eat every day is 2 protein shakes? If so, you're in for some serious problems when you stop your diet..

if you are on a protein diet, why dont you change your list to something like this?

lean beef
chicken breast
turkey breast
fresh fish
canned tuna
canned salmon
eggs
sweet potatoes
yams
long grain brown rice
old fashioned oats
steel cut oats
eggplant
squash
romaine lettuce
spinach
asparagus
avocado
broccoli
brussels sprouts
cabbage
cauliflower
cucumbers
celery
peppers (any color)
mushrooms
string beans
zucchini
apples
fresh or frozen (w/o syrup) berries
grapefruit
heavy whipping cream (35% ....NOT whipped cream the dessert topping)
olive oil
safflower oil
flax seed oil
walnut oil
almonds
walnuts
natural sugar-free peanut butter

you shouldnt deprive yourself from fruit completely. berries are high in antioxidants, and grapefruit is excellent as an appetite suppressant.

why not ditch the processed foods like cake, fast foods, pastas and potatoes and switch to 100% whole wheat foods, sweet potatoes and curb the sugar intake?

if in fact you are looking to stay on a protein diet, you still need a balanced diet if at all possible

just my two cents... i feel like you would be more apt to making a lifestyle change, rather than just a crash course diet if you incorporate actual food into your day...

curious... why do you drink two protein shakes? why dont you eat real food.. real protein... like eggs, lean meats, etc.?
