Cologne Dudes

I haven't gotten laid in a couple of months, and I'm thinking about becoming a cologne guy. I always thought that wearing a fragrance was kind of effeminate (and expensive), but I'll do it if it works... But I always suspected it was just a placebo effect. Does anyone think cologne can make a difference (talking about getting girls at bars). I shower before I go out, so I don't smell or anything, I just want to know what random people on a fitness forum think about cologne assisting getting laid.

lmao! Um, no. Just act interested when they talk, and crap like that. ;-)

I was given a bottle of some Ed Hardy cologne from Macy's and it smells goooood IMO. Gotten lots of compliments on it ;)

I usually just spray some on a tissue and dab it on my neck so it's not overbearing ;)

i don't think cologne is gonna get you the ladies, but its not gonna hurt either.

the trick is to find a scent that works well on you, and don't freaking bathe in it!

I would get something with a spray nozzle rather than 'pour it out', give no more than 2 shots to the chest, and then one on your forearms/wrists and then rub them together.

chest, neck, inside elbows and wrists are the locations that will help the scent come out and be noticable.

however you shouldn't smell like a walking bottle of cool water! that's too much and it definitely turns off the ladies.

and don't douse yourself with Axe body spray. its fine after hitting the gym and showering over lunch, but its not a high quality scent either. I'd check out Cool Water...its easy to find, not horribly priced, and the ladies seem to like it.

haha.. that reminds me of people who take cologne bath right before coming to gym..it's so annoying..I mean I spray deo before going but just little bit.

Back to your question...I think if you spray little bit it would help little bit in getting ladies...but again you gotta be nice to them and wateva dey look for..smile or wateva...and offcourse good clothes and haircut.

Might join the cologne crew....

Appreciate the advice. I'm definitely not trying to depend on my smell or anything, just wondering if it may give me a lil boost. I might just sample some of the bathroom attendants samples for a while, see if I like any.

I think I tried Diddy's cologne from a drunk bathroom attendant last weekend. He weirded me out a lil though because lifted up my shirt and put it on my stomach. I was too drunk at that point make a difference though.

As for axe, I stopped using that crap in 10th grade. I used to spray ridiculous amounts on myself because I thought my parents would smell smoke on me if I didn't. Just wound up smelling like chemicals and smoke.

If you're going for impression, I think the biggest, best thing you can have is a watch with matching clothes. Not some cheap/fake watch, but a good one; like Fossil or Seiko. Costs about 200 dollars for a good one. I don't know why, but women dig that. They're all like, "Nice watch." Plus if you dress nicely, that's a huge bonus. ;) Smell is a secondary concern.

burberry is a nice brand cologne. A little on the expensive side, but a very pleasent clean smell. LaCoste is nice too.

Both brands have multiple scents but they are usually very clean light scents.

As several people said, don't bathe in it. People shouldn't smell you more then a few feet away....not down the hall.

I am not used on over spraying colognes all over my body, yes it smells good but others specially girls would have interpret or find it too much that it can make their noses hurt because of strong fragrance.
A sweet, mild and cool fragrance it the most attractive scent for the girls, and I guess there are oil based perfumes available on stores that last a day even in a single spray, but this is a bit expensive.

Ugh. Burberry smells awful. lol

I use Bvlgari Aqva (pronounce the v's as u's), Dirty English by Juicy Cuture, Polo Black/Double Black and Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male. There's a few others I've wanted to buy, but all of these listed are about 45-65 USD a bottle.

I usually do a quick spritz on both sides of the neck and once in a while, a shot on the chest. You def don't wanna over do it.

As far as the ladies: Fat chicks are like mopeds, fun to ride till your friends find out...

*clears throat*

I mean, never EVER tell yourself a chick is out of your league. That is mistake numero uno. No girl is ever out of your league. Second, be a man, but don't be a douche. Don't be pushy or over confident. Third, be interested in what she is saying, even if it's boring as ****. And most important, don't act desperate. Chicks can smell that. Chat with her like she's your friend and don't call right away when you get the number. :beerchug:

Also: Lose the mustache!

LOL!!!

The Bvlgari is nice I'll give you that, but juicy couture and JPG you can only really wear if you're under 20, they smell as cheap and obvious as Burberry and Davidoff IMO.

I've always worn Armani in the past, and that's just the fragrance called Armani, not the cheap ***** like Armani Diamonds, Gio, Attitude etc, it's just called Armani and comes in a brown box with brown and gold colouring on the bottle. It's quite cheap at about $75 for 50ml (converting from UK £ so not sure on exact US price)

Recently though I've been wearing Guerlain pour homme but you could be looking at about $100 for about 50ml.

The thing with fragrances is you can't be cheap, if you wear something cheap then you smell cheap (and often sweet). A man should wear something that smells masculine. A good way of telling is by seeing how many women you know actually cuddle you to smell you (if the fragrance is good I assure you this will happen).

Also, most men don't seem to understand that an aftershave isn't really a fragrance, it's cheap crap that has no lasting smell. It's meant to be used after shaving, not to make you smell nice in the long term. A good fragrance will not be overbearing but stay with you all day

Well, my GF of four years enjoys Le Male and is the reason I wear the juicy one and she's 29 (I'm 25). I actually bought her two stuffed animals and sprayed each with one of the colognes for her to cuddle with when she goes to sleep. I'm not a fan of burberry cause I think it smells ****ty, but that's my personal opinion, and I've never bothered with Davidoff cause it makes me think of Hasslehoff, dunno why and not sure why that makes me not like it, but no matter.

As far as smelling masculine or not, I personally beg to differ. I think of the JPG as a summer scent, Dirty English as an everyday scent and black as a more dressy scent, but may change it up now and then. I did have an Armani way back when, but I haven't gotten, nor smelled, anything by him in a while. But there are some that small too sweet. Curve is definitely a no-no.....

JPG has a lot of female fans, I'll grant you that, but when I see the bottles I just think of Eurotrash (if you haven't seen it try looking on youtube)
