Weight-Loss coffee vs water intake

Weight-Loss
Yes and no. :)

Any liquid counts - but you have to consider the other ingredients that the liquid you drink contains. The water in coffee is good, but the caffeine will act as a diuretic to some degree, which negates *some* (not all) of the water you intake.

I personally don't count my morning coffee towards my water intake ... but then again, I don't really measure my water intake to the cup. I have a 64 oz container that I keep on my desk and I usually fill it twice a day. Sometimes I drink 2 full refills, sometimes I only drink 1.5, sometimes I only drink 1. But to me as long as I get a minimum of the 1, I don't sweat the rest.

yes it does. the duritic effect of caffine in coffee means that 10-20% of the water in a cup will go to waste so to speak. meaning that while it is a duritic, there is still more than enough water to counteract the effect.

Please forgive me being a "newbee" in this sight and it's boundaries of expertise. My wife is a registered nurse and wonder's the wisdom of speaking to this issue w/o considering for example, kidney patients such as myself. She insists that water and water alone should be measured as water intake as anything else is taxing on ones kidney's to some extent.

Are your comment's irresponsible at least to this point?

Thanks

I didn't know of that opinion about water only counting. I always feel shaky after I have coffee in the morning but I still always drink (not sure why). Is it possible to be addicted to coffee? Also, do you think it is okay to have coffee first thing in the morning?

Thanks,

Steve
