Sport Coffee! Can it help?

Sport Fitness
Being that I'm in college, I regularly need coffee to stay awake and finish projects, do some reading, and not lash out and kill people and whatnot. I don't drink any before workouts, but I'm kind of wondering... would drinking coffee perhaps help me lose a bit of weight? As it is, I drink it straight black, no extras, and I drink about three cups a day. As long as I don't drink any before workouts, could that help up my metabolism and hence burn a bit of extra weight?

I searched the forum archives a bit, but I didn't find this exact information. Thanks for the help!

Ha! That's the best time to have it, right before workouts. It helps give a bit of an energy boost. Yes, it may give a slight boost to fat burning, but it'll be insignificant to eating right and exercising.

One study found drinking a cup a day lowered risk for Alzheimer's and Parkinson's by 40%.

And as Cynic said, it would be insignificant compared to eating right and exercising.
