Chi Running

Has anyone ever read the book "Chi Running?" I'm about half way through, and it talks a lot about maximizing your running form to increase distance with less effort, etc.

Running for fitness and to push my body is a hobby for me, but I'm not really into running to see how far I can go with the least effort.

The book says using the chi principles, you will avoid injury, but then again, less effort usually means less burned calories and less workout for your lungs, heart, etc. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
 
Ive not read the book but have heard only good things about it.
