I have been good all week so I thought i would allow myself a couple of little treats on Thursday.

This turned out to be a ad idea as its now 2 days later and im still going.... I have eaten so many takeaways and 2 family size blocks of chocolate to myself.

When has this happened to you. Im not gonna let myself have a treat for a while now cause it seems to not do me any good. :):)

I try to add treats into my every day eating, and not have cheat days- that way I won't go all out and binge.. to me it is impossible to keep on track if you feel you are depriving yourself everyday..

I had a similar thing this week, too. Pizza on Thursday turned into guilty starving followed by sausage on Friday. No chocolate, but I would have done myself a favor if I had done the chocolate. I knew that I had to break the cycle so this morning I started out the day by running. I'm hoping that will get me back on the game.

My cheat day ended in cheat weekend.

So now im going to have little treats throughout the week... i cant be trusted with a whole day

"Cheat days" I believe are a horrible idea. You shouldn't ever go back to your old ways of (binge) eating under any circumstance. My version of "cheat days" is eating a healthy sized portion of something unhealthy at a restaurant for one meal, not gorging on crappy foods all day long. For the most part, for me at least, the problem has always been portion control, and practicing that is something I should do for the rest of my life with no exceptions. If you have to have a day where you binge, you haven't made a lifestyle change & you feel you are being deprived from normal activity. Binging is not normal activity & should be avoiding by everyone, forever.

Also, don't "plan" your cheat meals or days. If a meal at a restaurant is the course of normal life, have your "cheat" meal there when it is practical. Food is not an event, it is fuel.

BTW this wasn't really directed at anyone, just a little rant after seeing some posts about cheat days since I've been on this forum.

I'm so meticulous about eating mostly low cal foods I have room in my diet for whatever I want if I want it. Last weekend I had kick ass Armenian food, Mexican food, chips, cake, cookies and loads of cherry wine sipped from glasses rimmed with chocolate syrup and sugar. Woke up Mon and weighed the same as I did Thu, still weigh the same. Been doing it this way for a few months now with success. For me its all about balance. I've never felt or looked better so I'm rolling with it.

I don't have a cheat day but I do have a "treat meal" once a week. Usually on saturday for lunch I'll have whatever I want and not feel guilty about it. It has not affected my monday morning weigh-ins any in fact I've come out of the weekend with a loss alot of times. Even during my recent slow down in weightloss I've continued to allow myself this once a week treat. I don't think one meal will ruin your efforts for an entire week. Now a whole day of delcious dirty deeds might have more drastic affects.:willy_nilly:

i feel your pain, i have totally binged today and yesterday. I feel SO guilty...so horrible and yuck...well start again tommoro and better than ever. keep positive!

The trick is to not wait till tomorrow to start again. Start again right now. Even if it's right before bed, start now. As I've seen elsewhere on this forum, the past is over. It's from now on that matters.

thats very true, i will start now. Thanks :)
Haven't gone to bed yet, i will brush my teeth and stay up a little while longer. brushing your teeth i think helps for me to eat less at night. who would want to eat with that after taste in their mouth!?

The idea of a 'cheat day' scares me a bit, because now I have changed my diet so much to what it used to be that I don't think I would be able to take a whole day of crappy foods anymore...I would miss my fruit and vegetables too much I think, I find if I eat too much rubbish at one time now my mouth feels disgusting and I feel very lethargic. If I want a couple of oreos or some bread with onion dip [my 2 biggest weaknesses] it's not going to leave me disappointed on the scales the next morning because everything else I eat is very healthy and good for me now, and I don't have the inclination to eat a whole pack of oreos anymore, 2 will be enough.

I do not believe in cheat days either, but rather once a week treats. I don't plan it or have it on a specific day, but I wait for a convenient time to fit it into my normal lifestyle.

Birthday party? Cake!
Work function? Little pastry thingies!
Movies? Popcorn!
Steakhouse? Ribs!
PMS? Chocolate!
Sunday breakfast? Bacon!

Woohoo!

It's happened to me so many times in the past! Trust me, it happens to most people every now and then. Just don't let it happen too often, (of course because it's not good for your health, but also it won't help with control over cravings) Eventually if you keep up with controlling your cravings, you won't ever binge again. Good luck,,

I also eat a little treat every day or two. My current favorite treat foods are Italian Ice (no fat!) and strawberry-banana soy milk!
:drool5:

That's the way to do it though, find healthier options, and have them often!
