Anyone who has known me for a while knows that I am certifiable, but now it's official. Official that I'm a geek that is. I'm currently in school working on a 2 year in Network Engineering, and I just finished my 1st quarter of core classes.....net 101, which is software. Basically the class preps you to take the 1st half of the CompTIA A+ certification. The OS half.
If you don't speak geek, let's just say that it makes me halfway to employable at a real job and is my 1st big milestone. Now, while I maxed the class, there's just so much material that one quarter cannot really prep you totally for the cert by itself. The test is only 80 questions, but they are pulled at random from a pool of 1000 or more. So you end up studying braindumps and certblasters for hours on end outside of class.
And even then you cannot be 100 percent you have it until you have it. I went in fairly certain I was ok, but by the 6th question on the test I was getting questions that were not covered in class OR the study materials. Like, every 3rd question or so. By the time I was done I was sure I had failed and would have to retake the test at the tune of 80-100 bucks. When my score was calculated and I passed I was so stunned the test supervisor had to yell at me that I was done, I was just sitting there.
And by the time I got to the car and got my mom on the phone I was so verklempt (thanks for reintroducing me to that word Stingo) that I cried. Anyways, I just wanted to pat myself on the back for a moment and do the happy dance, now come Monday it starts all over again with hardware.
