Cement running suggestions

I'm 15 and within the next week about to begin running 3 days a week strictly for the first time. I also am getting new shoes, I heard that Asic gel shoes or something was the best. But, I will be running on cement and from some other threads I read that cement is the worst surface to run on. I can't drive yet, legally ;) lol, so that's all that I have to work with: cement. So is there any suggestions on what I can do to help myself from getting a knee injury or leg problems, as I read in other posts? I will begin running about a mile a day, and hopefully within a while bring that distance to a climb.

I heard running on your tip toe's and not crashing down on your heels with every step will help with knee's.

Also run a search for HIIT.. it might suit you better than the mile a day. Remember to start slow and work up. Depending on how big you are, running that much first starting out can be bad for your heart.

i only know that it is High Intensity Interval Training....but thats all i know, i googled it but i dont know what it is beyond that

What is HITT??? i always here about it but have no clue what it is???

its High Intensity Interval Training.. HIIT..

Its a routine that involves run, walk, and sprint into a 20 minute routine.

Ex.. walk 2 min, run 2 min, sprint 1, repeat into a 20 minute workout.
The purpose is to get the heart pumping at a high rate, then bring it down with walking, then bring it back up into a high rate again. This will burn more calories then maintaining a 1 hour long cosistant jog. Look into the Running section of the forum to learn more. People have actual routines made for you so you won't have to make up your own.

There is a whole forum on HIIT. It isn't accessible from the main page but u can get to it from the little "Forum Jump" at the bottom of this page.
