Catty BS - What am I supposed to do?

First, let me just point out that I'm sorry if this sounds like highschool bs but I could really use some advice.

So I started waitressing at this asian place like 3 weeks ago. Well ever since I've started there is this one waitress just seems to despise me for no reason. It's really been annoying with her constantly trying to get in my way or point out my mistakes. I've been ignoring it till last night when she was basically hinting that I was trying to steal tips :mad: Obviously we started arguing, yadaya and now i'm just wondering how in the hell I'm going to deal with her. I've dealt with people like this before and usually my reponse is just avoid them but this place is a bit too small for that. I should probably learn how to get assholes off my back anyways. Any advice?

When she's on you about anything *stop* what you're doing and in a non-threatening way look her in the eye, take a deep breath, smile and say: "Thank you
[insert name],". Smile again and continue looking her in the eye then and continue having a great day.

Don't let her negative energy steal yours away...:)
 
People who are not happy with themselves will always try to bring someone who is, down to their level.

If you go to her level.....she wins.
 
It seems no matter where you work there is always a jerk in the crowd, just ignore her as much as possible. I know that's easier said then done, but like the others here have said it will just bring you down to her level.. She isn't worth it, think that!!
 
Throw her off guard by complimenting her on something and being friendly. It's hard for ppl to be rude to ppl who are nice to them. My very first job, I had a similar situation. One of my co-workers didn't like me at first but I just overlooked it and was nice to her. And now, 12yrs later, we are really good friends. Sometimes its just a perception problem. That person may have misinterpreted something you did or said at one point. In my case, my co-worker perceived me as being stuck up when I was really just shy and nervous at the time. But now we laugh about it.
 
No need to run, you're right in a way. Women, we're very complex beings. It's a fact women don't like some women.

Sometimes there's no reason but we ALL have or have had someone we just don't like.

I'm almost certain we've all been the bad guy at some point or another too. We can't all be the victims cuz then who's the villain? LOL
 
obligatory pyschotic jackass...as veronica mars would say...every (insert place ie. school, group, office) has one :)

hmm... u could do a lot of things, especially things posted already. maybe u should talk to ur manager if she doesnt stop.
