cardio?

i come across the term cardio alot. and people mention do more cardio. what is this suppose to mean? more exercise? and if that what it means, what kind of cardio excerices would be useful for someone to get rid of the love handles?
 
for those of us who have trouble gaining muscle, we usually limit cardio to help save more calories from being burned off. then when we try to burn off bodyfat, we then add more cardio to burn extra calories.

its difficult to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time so we concentrate on one at a time.

as for cardio, you have the treadmill, bike, jumping rope, rollerblading, stairs, sprinting, etc
 
Cardio (short for cardio vascular training, that is training that improves the efficiency of the lungs, heart and circulatory system) is another term for aerobic exercise, that is exercise that uses oxygen as opposed to anerobic exercise, or exercise that does not use oxygen. Cardio is any exercise that causes an increase in heart rate and breathing for an extended period of time. Cardio can be any exercise that you do long enough to increase breathing or heart rate, however those exercises that use the most and largest muscles in the body generally are most efficient. So running, swimming, stair climbing, which use the large muscles of the legs and hips are generally used for cardio.
