Hey everyone since the last time I posted I went from 240 to 229 and lately I have been doing 40 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes of resistance and since I started I have only been able to lose around one pound a week am I doing something wrong here? From last monday to today I only lost one pound even though im eating to lose like 2 or three

I am eating 2600 calories A day and burning around 600 just on cardio mostly because I still weigh a lot.

Male - 18
5'9
229LB
My RMR should be like 2300 + 500 for basics + 600 at the gym = 3400
and I eat around ~2500, that should be 2 pounds lost per week but since I started the resistance workout it slowed way down or am I doing everything all wrong here???

After I do cardio I just do one muscle group a day
like:
Monday- 40 min of cardio and 20 min of chest
Tuesday-40 min of cardio and 20 min of arms
etc..

Hey Gzo,

You know, I am using "net" calories right now as well, and am having a hard time. I have never diligently counted calories in my life, and only used to "monitor" my calories during my plateau's in order to see if I wasa eating too much. Not counting calories, I lost about 50 pounds in about 5 months...then, I switched to calorie tracking where I record EVERYTHING now on my smartphone. I am set to lose about 1.5 lb/week (750 calorie/ day deficit), and sometimes I far exceed that by burning 1300 calories by working out a couple of times, while consuming 2500 calories, and netting about 1200 calories. On this latter method, I have only lost about 4 pounds in 6 weeks... go figure huh? the math doesn't work. I don't know why. I have ventured to guess my Heart Rate monitor was over-estimating, so I lowerd the weight to 10lb below what I weigh, and changed my lifestyle to "sedantary"... still, it remains to be seen what is going on.

If you are going strictly by weight, you are undoubtedly adding muscle right now as well. I am not lifting weights, so mine is pure lack-of weight loss.

I would start tracking something like waist-size, or body fat, because it will help you keep your motivation. If you are doing everything you say you are doing, SOMETHING is trending downward, whether it's waist, fat%, etc.

Best of luck!

How long have you been doing the extra workouts? And when do you weigh yourself? I ask because I think for 24 hours or so after a workout your body holds on to extra water as it repairs muscles etc, so your weight can actually go up right after a workout. It tends to even itself out, though.

Either that or your weight is going down, and your calories aren't going down enough to compensate... Or you're moving a LOT less during the times you're not exercising, so your total calories burned isn't as high as you'd think...or. Well, human bodies are strange :p

Well this is my second week doing the extra workouts, I weigh myself in the morning after releiving myself LOL, my waist is going down slowly its at like 40 inches what else should I measure and how often?

Personally I find workouts far better for inch loss than weight
loss. But let's face it, it's the inches other people can see anyway! :)
