Cardio Opinion

Hey guys, remember me. I posted a thread not too long ago asking how to "define" my six pack. You guys suggested that I had HIIT cardio to my routien. Well, I took the advise, and started doing it. I'm doing 24 minutes of interval training on a rowing machine 3 days a week I felt that the rowing machine would help tone my entire upper body as well. My main goal with this is to lose as much fat as I can from under my skin, so I can get that toned, "cut" look. You think this will work? I hate to think that I'm wasting my time and energy.

...CUT...please don't every use that word again!! You want a six pack? You want it faster? Up the workout time, add another day on, and I personally would start at the track. HIIT is very sucessful, but you should start out slow because it is a killer. Try this dude,
Sprints
8x100 yard sprints-around 60 seconds rest in between.
----after a while simply up the amount of sprints and sets and maybe decrease the resting time by around 5-10 seconds----

This does not give you the same affects on your heart that distance running would, but it loses the fat fast without much muscle loss.

***six pack=good diet and cardio***

You want to know something interesting? You can do crunches until you feel like you're going to vomit, and you still wont achieve that six pack. In actuality, you do not even HAVE to do 1 single crunch! I never do crunches, and I have a very defined six pack (not bragging just attempting to convey a point). Did you know that compound lifts such as bench press and incline press workout your abs? Mainly, a good diet, along with cardio and your regular workout will make the abs come out. It takes time though, lowering your bf is a gradual process so be patient!

I definitely agree that sprinting is the way to go. It not only will chew up a lot of calories, it will stimulate so-called 'fast-twitch' muscle fibers to grow. And, sprinting also stimulates a decent HGH release, since the demand/time ratio placed on the body is so high.
And, just to add to what 'genius' said, compound movements (such as the bench press) give your abs an isometric workout (the muscle fibers contract to stabilize the body). So, they will definitely bring your abs out (this is why many competition-level bodybuilders develop an ab routine only a few weeks before a competition).
