Cardio Machine Suggestions.

I know this has probably been asked several times so I am asking in advance to forgive me, but have some specific questions.

I was a BIG guy before I got fat so I am now over 350 lbs and in need for a machine for cardio. At the YMCA I love the eliptical machine but I know to get that quality of a machine will cost me more than my $2000.00 MAX.

What would you suggest for me to get good cardio and heavy duty enough for a 350 lb + guy.

I see spinning machines are less expensive than treadmills but the treadmill could be used by my 10 year old who also need a little cardio too.

Any suggestions?

Being so heavy, I don't know if I would run.. that would put a lot of stress on your joints, specially if you haven't done it much before so they aren't conditioned to it.

Thought about cycling? Rowing machines?

If you're a member of the YMCA, why don't you just train there?

I will not run, will walk and yes would consider a cycle or spinning machine.

The closest YMCA, or any workout facility is at least 30 minutes away and with my busy schedule is what is keeping me from working out. I also have free time at night, when the Y is closed.

eventually, as your fitness improves, you'll be able to run on the treadmill. I'd go with a bike.. If you want to walk you could easily just do that outside.

I vote for "outside" whenever possible, but that's just me. :)
