cardio everyday

just to ask, but what is so wrong with doing cardio everyday? if your a professional athlete, like a basketball, they go to practice everyday, i dont know their lifting schedule, but im sure they lift probably 7 days a week. is cardio just bad for the 'average' person? me personally, i feel my body can handle cardio everyday and then some. thinking about it, is it bad to do cardio everyday if your trying to lose weight? cardio wouldnt be bad if you ate enough and maintained, i dont think?

It's good to do cardio daily, but the type of cardio can make a difference. Example: I wouldn't recommend running on a daily basis (though running frequently is good).

People who run long distances on a daily basis pretty much have the choice at 50 - 60 of getting knee replacements, or never walking easily or without assistance again. By taking a couple days off every week you can save yourself years of pain down the line.

i used to do a hard aerobics workout every morning...didn't take but a few months for my knees to give way.

now, years later, after intensive physical therapy, I do the recumbant bike most days, but not a hard workout every single day.

you have to make sure the muscles around the knees are strong enough to do what you want to do. that was one of my problems.

so i do toning, weights, pilates and yoga almost every single morning. again, some workouts are harder than others.

and i walk a lot. i think the key is variety - in workouts and eating!

Intensity and duration are the factors which can contribute significantly to overtraining.By manipulating these variables to accomodate for recovery and adaption, you can train everyday, whether it be sport skills, weights or aerobic exercise.
Begin experimenting with hard and easy days or heavy and light days, depending on what attributes you are focusing on.

well, im not doing any hard cardio at the momeny anywho, cause im bulking. mostly i just walk alot, alot of walking. if im not doing anything around the house, ill walk around the house, or if i want to watch TV, ill stand and watch tv, even for like 30 minutes at a time. may seem crazy but id rather not sit, like im doing now, atleast my fingers are moving

I think I may have mentioned this in another thread: even when bulking, cardio is important. You want to cut up (do intervals) and you want your heart strong enough to support your enlarged size (do endurance cardio).
