Cardio anymore than 3x per/wk?

I was wondering, this especially goes when cutting, should you do more than cardio 3 times a week if doing it for 20 to maybe 30 mins at a time?

P.S. - Woo, 300 posts :)

HIIT training is best when cutting as it reduces the amount of muscle that is used as fuel (due to the short time doing it).
The good thing about running for only 20-30mins is that you have not stressed out the leg muscles too much, and so the recovery time is shorter.

Im cutting at the mo.
Im running for 20mins (plus 5mins warm up+5mins cool down)
then weight training 1day on, 1day off.
doing an upper body and core 3day split
chest, lats/traps, shoulders,/ arms, core

not worrying about legs for now as im running everyday, and loosing the fat is most important.

Oh ok thanx. Well, when i go to the gym its a pretty tough bike ride there and back. It takes 20 mins there 20 mins back. Should i worry about working my legs coz when i go home from the gym on leg days i find it almost impossible to make it.

Hi Tim.

It would seem that the bike ride is a leg workout too, right? So if you can barely make it home on your leg days, you might want to cut back a bit at the gym.

??

I'm a newbie though so don't trust what I say. :D

This really all depends on how your diet is set up. I do cardio 5-7 days per week in the morning on an empty stomach for 45 min - low intensity, with nearly no muscle loss due to how my diet is set up.

What is it that you eat that stops this from happening?

Also, i only go running in the mornings if i couldnt sleep that night. I feel better running at dusk.

The American College of Sports Medicine recommends that people participate in cardiorespiratory fitness activities for 20-60 minutes 3-5 days per week. I do work out hard for five days a week and then rest the other two days and I have found that I really like my program. So I think that you could increase your workouts to five days per week and you would benefit from that.
