Cardio...and Workouts

Hello...I am new here...
I am trying to loose weight, and build muscle at the same time...
I was wondering when I should do my cardio?
I usually run on tha treadmill...
I am 17 and weigh about 220-235 lbs.....
In between there
I am 5'11"...
For those of you that were wondering..
I was wondering when I should do my running?
I usually do about 5-10 minutes to get me warmed up before my workout...But in general...When I am doing my actual running or any cardio in general...Should it be done before or after my weight training? Or does it not matter at all...
I was just wondering if it makes a difference at all?
Thanx.

I was told when you are trying to lose weight you should do your cardio first and do a minimum of 30 minutes, 45-60 is still better, than follow with your weight program and keep the intensity up to continue burning fat.
Have fun

I think jehn is right here, some people debate wether it is better to run before weights or after, if possible can you split your workouts? Like weights in the morning running in the afternoon, because its been proven that 7.5-8 hours after weights you get an increase in your energy. many athletes use this. This is why most professional sportspeople who need weights and running do weights in the morning.

I guess splitting the workout into running and w. lifting sessions is not a bad idea, however my doctor told me it is not very healthy to do weights in the morning. Don't forget that most of us have jobs to do when athletes do their workout programs.

I think that probably for a few weeks it would better for you skipping weight training altogether. It is a flawed idea to believe that you can transform fat into muscle. You can't.
If I were you I would focus on running and cardio, well probably would do a couple of pushups. This way you could develop real resistance. Without that weight training doesn't look too serious because you are just not active enough to do the exercise properly.

It's a good idea to make a realistic day-to-day training plan for say 9 weeks, print it out and at the end of the day cross out your achievments so that you can see your development.
