Cardio and Workout duration

Hi guys... I am new here and I hope I`ll get some expertise advice... :action11:

I have two question that are related... I don`t know if you`ll answer it but I am grateful in advance.
I work out (weights) 5 times a week and go running 3 times a week. I love cardio and it doesn`t present a hassle... but I don`t know the optimal quantity of cardio needed to be in optimal shape and have minimal body fat. I think I am overdoing it. First I started running for half an hour but through my workouts I started increasing it as my stamina increased and now I am running for hour and a half. I don`t want to train running, just want to be in max shape and burn fat... keep it low as possible. However, with hour and a half 3 times a week I feel I am burning more and more muscle... I don`t want to be too skinny. So, now I don`t know how and how much cardio should I implement in my workout for best results. Could you please help me?

And second... in your opinion... which is the ideal length... I mean duration of a workout? 60, 90, 120 min? I tend to add exercises for particular muscle groups over time thus increasing duration of my work out... and I don`t know how much exercises is ideal for a particular group. 4.. 5? And sets also... are 3 sets really enough?

A lot of questions guys but I really hope someone will have enough nerves to read and answer... it would help me a lot!

I thank you in advance! :food:

Unfortunately, long duration endurance training like running does consume muscle. So, if your goal is to not lose muscle, keep the running to no more than 1 hour duration, probably 30 - 60 minutes. And drink a protein shake afterwards.

Hey... thanks for you answer... I did my own research through net... and stumbled upon some articles that say you actually don`t loose muscle mass during cardio... why are there always sooo many opinions... damn it!

But I think I`ll keep my cardio from now on around 1 hour...
