Cardio and calories loss

Hi there. I'm just wondering whether aiming to do cardio exercises to lose 3500 Cal per week is too much? Is it possible for normal working people? The weights sessions are done too but the main aim is to get the calories off through cardio without adding that from the weight training.

I'm a 4ft 11in Asian female with 119 pounds on me. My lean mass is about 83 pounds. Thanks!

If you did cardio and dieting to lose 3500 cals a week is losing one pound a week. Thats very realistic and is a goal for most people on this forum, that I've seen. It's not too much at all. Some people think losing 2lbs a week is a bit much, which is what I'm doing now. I'm upping my calorie intake to 1600 for this reason.

Losing one pound a week is a great thing and you can definitely do it. Minus 500 cals from what you eat now, and you'll do that. 500 times 7 (7 days in a week) and you have yourself 3500 calories.

Good luck!!!

Thanks miracle. But I'm thinking on purely cardio calories burning. Putting other factors aside (that is weight training, and counting calories), is it too much to do cardio for 3500cal/week? That would be at least 500Cal to burn if you do it 7 days. For 6 days that would be around 580+ Cal/Day. I burnt 252 Calories for my 30min workout. So to Burn 500 it would be 1hr of exercise for me.

Would be really grateful for any suggestion on Calories burning on Cardio exercise. My minimum time for my cardio is 20min and it only totals up to 160+Cal Loss.

My goal is to lose fats and keep my lean muscles.

***How much do you burn during your cardio exercise and how long the session? Thanks for your contribution.

I guess I'm not being clear here. I do weight training 3 sessions per week. Upper and lower bodies. However I want to up my cardio sessions. Thus I'm sort of motivating myself by targeting on a certain amount of calories.

The cardio session that I normally did is only 20min per session 6 days/week in the morning.

So now I'm trying to increase my cardio session and wondering whether 3500Cal/week is achievable goal. :D

I would advise you on NOT doing that, especially if muscle maintenance is part of your goal. ;)

Thanks Steve :D
