Sport carbs before working out?

Why would you do this? People say you should eat carbs before working out or running in the morning, but if you do that then aren't you just bruning those carbs in the workout vs burning stored fat? If you just burn those carbs you ate, then what did you do besides waste time really?

Recently ingested carbs have not had enough time to fully digest and so they may not be true. In addition, many people feel faint or weak without eating and so they don't really have a choice. Also, many "hard core" supplements need to be taken with food and so maybe that plays a role.

Well dude I know people who run professionally load up on carbs before a race because the body is going through such intense strain that they need the carbs to keep them going.

As for running in the morning, If you're trying to lose weight then you probably shouldn't eat.

When you weight lift though you should definitely eat before. Def get some protein in your system

It's not a waste because any type of anaerobic exercise (weight training, HIIT, etc) is causing muscle stress to occur, which will burn calories for long hours after the exercise as it rebuilds. Anaerobic exercise will also use the available glucose and glycogen, and if those aren't available, that's when you start burning muscle.

If you're doing aerobic exercise (low intensity running), then it really doesn't matter too much because you're going to burn mostly calories from fat anyway.

I guess the real question is... who are these people? Are their opinions really worth considering?
