Best thing you can do is to eat like you should 5-6 meals a day, so that your "snack" is a good one, you will lose those cravings when you are constantly full..

-Drink more water and get more fiber in your diet (both give the illusion of fullness)
-Smaller and more frequent meals
-NEVER OVEREAT, you're stretching your stomach. Allowing yourself to eat more without filling up as quick overtime.
-Grab "good" food when you can't control your appetite. There is no excuse for grabbing a bag of potato chips. Snacking on some veggies will not make you gain weight.

Gauge your appetite on a scale of 1-10. 1 being super hungry, you'd kill for food. 10 being you can't eat anymore without puking. You should target to be around 7 after you eat. Never be near the extremes. You're body will adapt to not overfeeding yourself and you'll be able to eat less.

The best thing to do is GET AWAY FROM THE FOOD until the urge passes! Get out of the house and go for a walk, walk the dog, take a bike ride, rotate your tires, mow the lawn, fly a kite.

If after 20 minutes you still want to eat, you may be hungry and probably should have a snack.

Eat a big salad with some low fat dressing. the fiber will give you the illusion of being full to some degree.
