can you workout everyday?

I know you're supposed to let your mucsles rest that's when they grow. After work too tired, and can only do 1 set (8 reps). of curls, chest and back. Then I'm too tired. Since this isn't much can I do this daily?

Are you serious? You could probably actually do that everyday (unless every rep is your max), but you won't see much benefit coupled with that lack of relative safety.

I suggest rethinking your schedule and adding a leg day.

You may want to revise your routine and perhaps your diet, If your diet isnt on par then you wont have enough energy to perform your workout. If you wish to work out everyday then you need to split your muscle groups this is how you get your rest period whilst training hard.

WHY are you so tired? do you work long shifts? construction?

or do you not sleep enough, and not eat properly to give the body the fuel it needs?

that's the real question that needs to be answered.

A direct answer to your question...yes. You actually probably could get away with this. The better question would be "Would it be optimal for me to perform a workout consisting of 3 TOTAL SETS?" The answer, of course, would be no.

You need to increase your fitness capacity! Your body has little reason to increase it's fitness capacity if you are only working your upper body with 3 total sets. In addition, where is your lowerbody work? If you desire, try something along these lines...

Monday: 3 sets of 8
Bench press
Squat variation
Barbell rows
Standing calf raises

Wednesday: 3 sets of 10
Pullups
Dips
Lunges
Cable Crunches

Friday: 3x12
Incline DB Bench press
T-bar rows
Skull Crushers
Sumo Deadlifts
Seated calf raises

yeah, I've had a really bad diet, hardly eat anything. saw a nutritionist recently, and hoepfully after a few weeks of following this diet, maybe I'll have more energy.

Mind sharing with us the "Diet" this "Nutritionist" recommends?

Just wondering, is he an RD or just a "Nutritionist"?

As stated, get your diet in check. I've been eating very clean for the past couple months, and the amount of energy I have daily is ridiculous!!!!

To hell with Monster, I'll take another serving of veggies and chicken!

No, it's an RD. I just started last week she said I'm not eating enough. So that's probably how I have a lack of energy. This diet has every meal planned out, it isn't a diet plan I bought from her or food I'm buying from them. This diet is based on my fitness goals, and they checked all my stats. It's food I get on my own at the grocery store they send me a list. I can't post the entire diet, it would be too much typing. Each day and each meal is planned accordingly to my goals and current stats.

Excellent then, If she truly is a Licensed RD your in good hands ;)

Tell though, did they run any blood test on you?

no blood tests, just an RMR test or whatever it's called that measures how many calories you burn while resting. I don't think it's as much of me being tired as being lazy and quitting before actually pushing myself. It's since whenever I get too hot I feel like passing out or kinda sick and stopping what I'm doing and cooling off. I think to see any progress I'd have to work with a trainer so I don't stop myself while working out.

Resting metabolic rate can be calculated by yourself, I hope you didnt pay too much. But then again if she calculated your diet and planned it for you then it would be ok.

I think what he was getting at with blood test,
is the fact you could have a serious disease such as HIV, so it is best to get this checked out anyway.

Don't listen to these fools. Pick up the weight and do it everyday for a month and then answer your own question.

I used to eat crap day in and out, worked out and felt awesome - hell, I felt awesome even when eating crap food and not working out. What is important is what you deem as such. The only thing you may be cautious about is not over-indulging hunger. And not going overboard with crap food...

No use complicating a fitness regime like an FBI complicates an investigation...listen to your body and mind. In the end it's what works best for you.

You may be tired when doing these now but after doing them a couple of weeks and after going through a few adaptations you'll be throwing them weight around like rag dolls.

This fitness forum will push you into a "more more more" way of thinking. Don't let it swallow you up into it. Keep your own pace.
