I was just wondering if anyone has really lost a significant amount of weight (20-40 lbs) via Elliptical Machine??
Whatever gets you in a caloric deficit works.
I have lost 68 pounds doing a combination of elliptical and strength training. I highly recommend it as it is very easy on the joints. Exercise is hard enough when you are not used to it, this was a good way to break myself in.
As everyone else has said---YES-----But.....
Our bodies are amazing and if you continue to do the same type of workout over and over, our bodies adapt to the workout and the workout becomes less effective. So, in order to loose weight effectively, I highly recommend doing a number of different workouts. Not only will this aid in your weight loss goal, but it will prevent exercise burn-out and will reduce the risk of over working the muscles in a repetitive fashion and getting overuse injuries.
