can you do a 1 arm chinup?

1 arm holding the bar. other hand not grasping anything. chinup.
can anyone here do it?
im training for it.
anyone have any great exercises to work towards it?
i already have towel chins, negatives, weighted chins in mind.
any personal favorites?

I believe I can do one. Weighted pullups and lots of pullups helped me, I think. I never trained for it, I just tried it one day and got it.

When I say lots of pullups, I mean like 60+ in one day. The crossfit kipping pullups helped a good deal.

that is incredible strength. its amazing that you never trained for it either.

i just dont see how kipping pullups lead to 1 arm maximum effort strength :O

I used to do like 80 for my routine. It was ****ing brutal, and helped alot. I can't do a 1 armed negative, or one arm anything. One arm stuff is crazy.

I could do one this summer. I learnt by gripping the bar with one arm and then jumping so that I got to the top (chin above bar) with minimal effort. I then tried to lower myself slowly.
I gradually jumped with less and less effort so that there was more strain on my upper body. I imagine you could try on an assisted pull-up machine or get a friend to help as that is essentially what I was doing.
Could only ever do right arm but hope this helps.

If I use a strap to hold my one arm on the bar, maybe. lol..

The more muscle mass you have, the harder it is to pull your body weight up using your arms. Using one arm would be almost impossible for you, Mreik, because if you look like your avatar, you have some serious musculature going on.

Smaller guys can go crazy on chin ups and pull ups because the ratio of upper to lower body is more advantageous.

I'd be very impressed if you could do 6 chin ups or pull ups using two hands with good form because with the muscle mass you have going on, it would be exponentially more difficult for you to do exercises like that.

Yes but with greater muscle size come greater force production which in turn is relative to weight :p I have seen some seriously big dudes do one armed chins.

Plus that isnt Mreik in his avatar......... its actually me, ask him if you dont believe me.

I wouldnt have a chance in the world. I think your on another level if you can achieve those f**kers.

Even a negative would be impossible for me.

Mreik isn't speaking to me anymore after our debacle on the weekend. It's all very sad, really. If you ask Mreik, he'll deny everything

So I have no choice but to believe his avatar is you, NBS :D

My gym does not have a straight bar but rather 2 angled ones.. I tried to hang from the angled handle bar and my body just contorted arward. I partially tried it and knew it was not happen and if it did, I was most likely going to injured something. In sort, nope can't do it here.

I saw that video a couple months back...that guys is a BEAST. Wonder how hard it is to do a 1 arm handstand push-up. Propped against a wall or not, I bet that's pretty effin hard.

Hell no. I can't even do a negative, and I pride myself on my pullup ability. I can do 1 hand pullups, but those are just forearm strength :p

Wouldn't doing a 1 arm pullup be almost equivalent to doing a weighted pullup with your body weight strapped on in weight?

I actually never tried one arm pull ups. So, I really do not know if I can; its simply never been a part of my goals, or training program the past 3 years.

One thing, I do know for sure. If this is one of your goals, GET IT.

Its yours.

Over and out.

A young man's spirit has no equal.

Best wishes
