hey guys,
i finally found a forum i could use =D

but anyway i need help with my gross stomach. i would like to know if anyone can recommend exercises or what i could do, to get rid of those rolls, and just make it flat. My goal here is to go from 195 down to 160.

i have also wondered if biking, does anything ab-wise. if you could answer this, i will be so happy :) thanks guys

Losing weight (fat) is the only way to lose the tummy. Eat healthy and do some cardio and weight lifting, and just wait until you lose the weight :) You'll see a big difference.

ok, one question answered thanks! :)

but what exercises should i really focus on, sit-ups really hurt the neck, but i enjoy biking alot, and i wondering if that targets the tummy at all? any suggestions?

as said, you can't lose weight in specific areas
to lose the fat you need to lose it all over
which means cardio generally, which yes bike riding is good for
and once you have lost the weight, you can tone the tummy muscles by doing a number of things, not necessarily sit ups/crunches, but things like push ups and the bench is it?
also, if you are a member of a gym ,or a friend has one, or you want to invest, there are ab machines that are like a rocker that you lay down onto, head on the rest and arms at the top, this provides neck support

Sit ups hurt your neck? Are you doing it in such a way that your hands are behind your head and you are pulling up on your neck? That's not so good.

Either cross your arms over your chest, or put your hands in a position as if you are grabbing your shoulders, so you are looking between your elbows - your arms stay uncrossed.

Biking does work the abs. Pretty much anything you do will work your abs to a degree. But biking could also help you to reach your goal weight in a way that doing tons of crunches or sit ups wont. Loosing the weight will make it easier to see the muscles underneath.

Good luck!

Right.

Losing weight (fat) is a function of being in an an energy (caloric) deficit.

This is partly correct. Well it is correct, but it only paints half a picture.

This deficit I speak of above is most ideally created with a combination of a reduction in the amount of food you eat which will reduce energy intake coupled with an increase in your activity through various exercises (cardio, strength training, etc) which will increase the activity you "burn."

Hours of cardio is not the answer.

Weight training is actually a critical component now, during the weight loss process. It's probably the most overlooked variable.

Yes, there should be no strain in your neck, Tomble is correct.

Are you sitting all the way up. If so, stop.

You should be doing crunches if you are trying to train the abdominals, which are a mild flexion of your core. Your lower back never leaves the ground.

Besides, crunches aren't going to provide any real benefit to you at this time.
