Can someone look at the nutritional facts of what I've been drinking?

I just started working out 2 weeks ago. I'm 36, 6'2" , 229lbs. My goals are; to gain strength, improve cardio, and build muscle mass. The priorities are on that order. Normally it does not take much for me to loose weight. I decided to get into the "supplements/shakes/drinks thing" for that reason (I dont want to get "skinny"). I've always taken a multivitamin in the mornings. Since I started "working out" I've been drinking a whey protein shake and a creatine drink. Can someone please look at the nutritional facts of the creatine drink that I've been drinking (see link below)? When I bought it I thought it was just creatine but when I got home and looked at the nutritional facts there is a bunch of "other stuff" in there. Is there to much junk in it? Is that an OK product for my goals? Also, is it ok to drink with the whey protein that I've been drinking (because it also has alot of "other stuff" in it)? Anyother supplements that I may need to achive my goals?

Sorry about all that rambling and the n00bish questions.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

Just add the w w w. on front of the links. I guess you need to have 15 posts before posting links to other sites. Its cool by me. I guess that keeps spamers away:beerchug:

Second link is broken, but the odds are very good that it's just as garbage as the creatine.

Here's the order of priority for supplements that are actually useful:

1) fish oil (from wild sources!)
2) fibre (psyllium husk or similar - Metamucil being one recognizable brand)
3) multivitamin (listed after fibre because whether or not these actually do anything at all are still up for debate, scientifically speaking, whereas fiber is very certainly good, and the more the better, essentially)
4) whey/casein protein, if necessary, with nothing else in it (except sugarfree flavoring) - I recommend trueprotein.com's CMDI, the premium chocolate banana flavor is bad ass

If you had read the relevant stickies, you'd know that it's best to eat whole, healthy foods, according to something like these general guidelines. As far as gaining or retaining mass goes, that's a simple matter of eating as much or more calories than you expend. Which is not that hard. If you find yourself looking like you've lost muscle, eat more. Otherwise, just eat as much as you're hungry for. Of the whole, clean foods.

So, if you must spend your money on something supplement-wise, see above. ^

Where do you find that on the site?

From the navigation frame at the top, products -> proteins and supplements -> proteins. Then hit (probably ctrl-f for) search and type in "Complete Milk Dairy". Or, here's . Once again, highly, highly recommended. It's reasonably priced, has the best flavors I've ever tried (with almost 0 carbs), is instantized (mixes very very easily), and this particular product is balanced like actual milk in terms of amino acid profile. They don't waste packaging unnecessarily, particularly if you ask them not to. (You do retain the option of getting it, add a small additional cost.)

I make some absolutely amazing drinks out of this stuff, and it's perfect for all situations. Hate cottage cheese? Say goodbye to that ****. Make protein pudding! It's ****in' tasty. :D

Don't forget to get the relevant coupons for 5% off and then another 5% off for buying 16+ lbs at once, when you've figured out what flavors you like. I've tried them all, and chocolate banana is the best, hands down. If you can't find a coupon, shoot me a pm and I'll link ya (it's not mine, suspicious people, I just think it's important to promote awesome products).

ah ok thanks. i did use the find feature but CMDI was not written anywhere under their protein page. If I knew it was Complete Milk Dairy...I would have had more success. Thanks Focus.

Forgot to mention that they sell pretty much everything, so if you want, you can design your own mixes of stuff, in any proportions. So if you want some other stuff mixed in with your protein, it's as simple as a few clicks. Which is a lot of fun for me. :D

You can make your own custom pwo drink, for example, without having to go to the hassle of mixing it yourself. (Sadly, they do not have conveniently accessible fat free chocolate milk in this backward Canuckian wasteland I live in.)

And yeah, sorry, I shouldn't have initialized the name. But it is the only thing on the page that would fit, hehe.

I just dont have time to eat "whole healthy foods." Breakfast time is a hit and miss. If I have a big lunch then I wont be hungry by dinner time. Dinner time will rely on what i had for lunch. If I had a small lunch then I should be able to have dinner other wise, I may have a snack before bed time. So, this is why I need to take some sort of "supplement." Other wise if I keep excersising I'll get skinny. Dont get me wrong, I could afford to loose a few pounds around my waist. But, overall thats the least of my concerns. Thank you for that usefull information on your post though.

Creatine is a proven supplement...one of the few out there that can increase performance to a degree, which could lead to better gains if everything else is where it should be (diet, rest, training, etc).

I'm not saying creatine is needed by everyone though, but you called it 'garbage' and that's just not the case.

However, I DO AGREE that the 'professional creatine' found in the link is indeed 'overkill'.

its got good creatine in it, and then they add taurine, and NO2 dialators which is garbage.

you don't need anything fancier than creatine monohydrate, or creatine ethyl ester...100% pure stuff.

Make time, fool. I will give you 10:1 odds on for any sum you choose that I spend less time planning, preparing, tracking and modifying my intake daily than you do scarfing down junk supplements. :) I can show you how, if you like, but only if you're serious - there's nothing I hate more than wasting my time on people who don't care.

Btw, what malkore said. I used the word "the" because I was saying that creatine is garbage. Get yourself some creapure creatine monohydrate. With nothing else in it.

Ok im not very experienced but when do you take this? You need to take the creatine before you work out. Whey can be taken before or after usually. I prefer too take it after so i can keep my stomach as light as possible. From my experiences i would recommend you take flax seed oil or fish oil, Preferably fish oil as its chained differently and will help generate better results. I take flax seed oil, but thats cause i havent had the time too start taking fish oil.
Most creatine supplements throw a bunch of junk in it, i wouldnt be quick too judge any until you've used it long enough too see if it generates good results. I personally dont judge by labels, they are essential too see whats in it but everyone's body is different. I use the ****ty brand of protein right now and the only effects i get is the occassional heavy stomach. So, please dont judge by labels but by personal experience.
Keep in mind im only 16 so my knowledge is mostly from personal experience so be easy on me thanks :).
