The first thing that you can do is to curb your intake of white rice. White rice is polished and refined so that is something that you should avoid. Instead consume brown or unpolished rice. Try including fat free dairy products like curd, toned milk. Ghee is a strict no no! I see that you use excessive amounts of oil in your cuisine. Prepare food using soy oil or olive oil instead of mustard oil. Refined flour should be replaced by brown wheat. Also, try eating in moderate amounts and increase the frequency. Add a whole fruit daily to your diet after breakfast. Avoid fried and excessively cooked and spiced stuffs, they contain more oil.

^^ These are all excellent ideas :) Just cut calories, make healthier choices and get 30 mins of exercise 5 times a week if possible!

I think those are great suggestions as well! Since I'm not familiar with the Bangladeshi diet, the best piece of advice I can currently give is to simply reduce your portions. What are your normal eating habits? Do you eat three meals per day? Do you snack? Do you skip meals? These things can also be good pieces of information so that we can help you better :)

I just read through the wiki page on the Bengladeshi diet..... mmm... sounds delicious! Interesting to know that what we think of over here as Indian food is actually most likely Bangladeshi cuisine!

I still think that one of the main things that you can do is to reduce your overall portions. Eat no more than one plate full of food per meal. It looks like in some areas, coconut is used quite a bit. Try to reduce the amount of coconut, coconut oil, and coconut milk that you eat. Also, avoiding the sweets can be very helpful as the calories can add up very fast if you're snacking on those. The main spices sound fantastic! If you use salt, try to reduce the amount that you use. To much salt can have negative health effects, especially on your heart, and it can cause your body to retain water.

Hi Brinto, I also agree with your diet intake, staying away from eating TOO MUCH high cholesterol foods such as coconuts, oils, and carbs (too much rice) would be best, and especially lessening your diet to small portions would also help. Have you every heard of Herbalife? I have been on the weight management program where you are to replace a meal with a delicious, nutritious shake. I have already lost 12 pounds and have been using it for 3 weeks! By drinking the shake you are decreasing your calories, getting the needed nutrients for a whole meal, and are also feeling energized and rejuvenated. If you have any questions...(email address removed)
I hope this information helps!

Thanks for all ur ans..i have some problems i'll like to say..

1.I can't leave out rice form my Meal cos in Bangladesh people eat rice 2 times a day so my family prepares this too...i cant cut out the rice but recently i started to eat less of it...like a cup 2 times a day

2.i cant go to a gym because of my work load but i Walk in the treadmill for 5 mins and run for 5 mins every day...i cant exercise 30 min a day...this 10 mins is all i have...will this do?..or will i have to do 30 mins?

If that's all you can do, then it's better than doing nothing! Do you not find time to watch television, read, or talk to friends/family? You really only have 10 mins to dedicate to yourself each day?

If you don't have much control over what food you eat, then you're probably going to have the most success just cutting down on the amount that you eat. And if you can do 10 mins of exercise per day, as Sunflower said, it's better than nothing! If you can, slowly try to add more time, it doesn't have to be all at once, you can do a few minutes here and there throughout the day and it really adds up!

Ok..i have increased my treadmill running time to 20 mins every day...i have been told to exercise 30 min a day 5 times a week...i walk/run in the treadmill 20 mins 7 times a week now..will this work?...i climb stairs(dont use the lift)..may be these will make up the 10 min gap..

I cann't do better then this atm:(...will this work for now?

i am really busy untill the end of april..so yes untill this time this is the only thing i can do in this time:(...after april i can increase my exe time...so untill april if i do what i said in the above post will i lose at least 10 pounds?...i really need to lose this pounds but am really busy

It's almost impossible to say whether you will lose 10 pounds in that time frame or not. All you can do is to do your best, stick with your plan, and see what happens. If you are exercising more than you were before and if you are controlling your portions and eating a bit less than you were before, you should lose some weight, however, I can't give you an exact number.

Good luck with it and let us know how it goes!

By the way, that's great that you're able to get 20 minutes on the treadmill rather than 10 minutes :)

i have 2 qus..can somebody plz ans:)

i am 40 lbs overweight,so recently i went to a nutritionist for a diet plan, and he gave me one and told me to walk in the morning and evening for 30 mins..and i am doing this for the past 2 weeks and having some result..but He also told me to drink warm water and stay away from refrigerated water..but since its very hot and humid in my country during this time of the year i couldn't follow his this advice and been drinking refrigerated water sometimes..my question is will this hamper my weight loss?

i sweat a lot than any normal person...30 mins of walking and i am almost bathing in sweat..does this mean i am burning more fat and calories?..

does this mean if i walk for 30 mins this is equal to a walk of say 60 mins for a normal person?
