Sport Can I eat greasy foods still when trying to gain weight?

Sport Fitness
I'm 5'7, currently weight 126. My goal is to be 140. So first off, is that about right?

Now onto the real topic. My friend and I are both dieting. He's trying to lose weight and I'm trying to gain. When we eat, I've been more lenient to still eat greasier foods. For instance, right now, I'm eating some Chinese that I got from a the foodcourt. Is this a bad idea or is it okay, since I'm trying to gain weight? After this, at some point throughout the evening, I'll be jogging 2-3 miles and lifting.

Personally, I think it is a bad idea. If you want to gain, that doesn't mean eat anything. You should stick to eating good foods. You don't want fat, you want muscle, and as they say, you are what you eat :)

If you want to gain the most amount of muscle while trying to gain the least amount of fat you should try to keep your diet as perfect as you can. One time isn't going to harm you, but if you make a habit of eating take-out food every single day it will hurt your gains.

If its only a 1 week thing, don't worry about it and enjoy your Chinese. You'll probably burn it off tonight anyways.

if you are trying to gain weight calories in>calories burned = weight gain pure and simple. if you want to be good to your body eat good food. chinese food will have heavy fat and saturated fat and MSG usually. when i go out for chinese its steamed chicken or shrimp and bok choy or broccoli. be good to your body even when bulking.

I agree with Phate.

You really should watch what you eat when bulking. If you are consistently going wayyy over your maintainence cals, you are going to start packing of fat much faster than your body can make muscle. Muscle doesn't get built overnight, it can be slow, so there's no reason to eat a ridiculous amount in surplus. Watch what you eat and make it all count!

I believe it has more to do with your background than anything else.

For example Asian person will probably be more consistence with diet of fish, rice, etc. Where as someone in an European country may be more consistence with pasta, animal meat, etc.

I'm not entirely sure what "greasy" food mean, I assume it means oil fried food. If you've been growing up most of your life eating "greasy" food as you put it, then more than likely your body will process those type of food easier than a new set of diet.

However, if most of your life you've been eating take out food, like Chinese, which is greatly different than an actual Asian diet, then you need to try to get off of it completely since ordered food are typically high calories, low value nutritionally. However, if you normally eat custom Asian food, it is probably good for you to continue eating in that direction rather than try to avoid your heritage.

Basically, if you like ordering take out, try to drop it by mixing what you'd considered "healthy" along with the take out and slowly increasing "healthy" until the take out food is no longer a staple in your diet. If you're a regular Asian Joe eating the Asian Joe's diet/custom food, then continue in that direction.

If you’re just eating it like once or twice a week, don’t stress it. It’s good to sometimes take a break from food you normally eat and get into other food.
